I cancelled my reservation at the M Resort and pulled the trigger on a 1BR suite reservation at the DT Grand for five nights in June. I couldn't pass up an $89.00 rate.

About me: As a former LV resident, I have no desire to stay on the Strip. Station Casinos are too isolated (as is the M). I have enjoyed the GN over the years, but would not stay any "lower" than the Rush Tower, but don't appreciate their tight machines and blackjack rules. I am looking to find a new "home".

I especially enjoy a great pool, frequent casino cocktail service, friendly bartenders, and an "upscale" (but not snotty) atmosphere.

Does anyone have any specific experience with the 1BR suite at the DT Grand?

Also, I have read that the VP pay tables at the Grand leave much to be desired, but I prefer to play where I stay. How bad are we talking? (Surely they can't be the rotten 6/5 DDB ilk you often find at MGM and CET properties, right?)

I stayed in a suite at the DTG, and it was very nice. As for the customer service\friendliness of the place, it was top notch. It's a small casino, but never crowded, which allows more personal service. Everyone has a smile, says hello, remembers your name, that kind of thing.

I don't play much VP but I know the paytables are pretty bad, although don't know the exact numbers. They did have excellent blackjack rules though.

Much appreciated. Thanks TFK! It's not a deal breaker, but the bathrooms look a little stark/sterile in the photos. The suite is supposed to have two bathrooms. Can you provide a brief description of the layout/d├ęcor?

Anyone else have any insight at to the VP pay tables? Some casinos have lousy pay tables in some areas, but then if you look around a little bit, other areas of the same casino have good pay tables. And sometimes they vary by denomination. The nickel games can be lousy but changing the denomination reveals better pay tables. (I generally play at the 50-cent level, single line and triple play DDB.) If need be, I'll play at the El Cortez, but it would be nice to get a comp offer from the Grand in the future, assuming it's a nice place.

    According to vpfree2 they have 9-5 JoB ( 98.45% ) at the $1 level and 8-6 JoB ( 98.39% ) at $.25. They also have Triple Double Bonus 98.15% at $1.

I'm booked in a King Deluxe. I wonder what the upgrade situation is. If anyone has experience with upgrading, $20 trick, etc. then please comment.

I played for 5 minutes of VP at the bar on my visit there (seeded by a free play promotion), and they sent me an offer for two free nights.

Thanks for the info. That doesn't actually sound all that bad. I don't mind giving up 5 coins here or there in a pay table, especially if I enjoy the atmosphere and service of a place. But I'm not playing 6/5 DDB for the "privilege" of being on the Strip. That's just an outright rip off.

What was the turn around time before a mailer went out?
