Is this now illegal? I know you can't walk down the strip anymore drinking out of a beer bottle, but what about beer cans or aluminum bottles? Anyone know? My wife and I love walking the strip freely drinking our beverages. I'd hate to have to stick to drinking Fat Tuesdays type of drinks while walking the strip or even shopping. I get it that beer bottles are banned and I agree that they probably should be, but what about cans?

    Cans are fine.

They didn't change the drinking laws. They just set up a corridor of Las Vegas Blvd where people can't carry glass containers (bottles/glasses).

Do any of the casinos have a stack of plastic cups available near the doors to pour your drink into as you leave? I'm so used to walking around carrying whatever's in my hand that I'm afraid I'll absent-mindedly walk out with some glass.

It's hit and miss. There are more of them near the casino entrances/exits rather than the hotel lobby entrances/exits. I see more cups offered Downtown than I do on The Strip.

Wow thanks for posting this, I had no idea glass containers weren't allowed on the strip! I have a terrible habit of forgetting I'm carrying a glass from a comp drink at the casino and carrying it out to the strip. I've always been amazed most casinos (or at least the ones we frequent) serve drinks in glass containers. I had no idea that since September (so 3 trips now), I've been violating the law every time. I'm going to have to try and remember that.

I always felt like an A-hole anyway, since the containers in question aren't exactly disposable...I just need to try and remember this.

    Thanks for posting!

Fremont has stacks of plastic cups. It was no problem.

Fremont is no bottles AND no cans though because they are trying to cut down on those that buy from the explosion of package stores and then hang around getting drunk and worse those that bring it from home and hang around getting drunk and causing trouble

I believe glass and the strip is a safety factor of broken glass stepped on from dropped bottles and or bottles broken and used as a weapon in a fight

I'll never forget my first trip to Vegas. Planet Hollywood gave me a 40 oz of booze per night as part as my reservation. Every night my buddy and I would make mixed drinks in the glasses provided by the rooms, walk around town like bosses and then toss the glasses in the garbage when we were done. We'd find new glasses outside other peoples rooms or off room service carts to replace the missing ones.

Life of a 21 year old...

Well according to that article "The county already had a ban on glass and aluminum bottles on the Strip during New Year’s Eve festivities, which draw hundreds of thousands of people annually. The recent decision extends the ban year-round."

This is what I mean. From this, I am assuming you cannot drink (on the strip) out of a beer can or aluminum bottle. What is the difference between an aluminum bottle vs an aluminum can? An aluminum can isn't called out. I'm confused.

An aluminum bottle could be used as a weapon.

I certainly don't disagree with you, but so can many other things be used as a weapon. Even an aluminum can could be used as a weapon when you think about it.

Walking down the strip with a plastic cup doesn't seem appealing to me. No doubt people could easily slip something in your drink if you aren't careful. Time to get creative. I am now bringing a bunch of extra large coffee cups that I have here at home and I even have spare lids.

anyone here remember when Little Caesars, the casino where Ballys is now, was ahead of the curve and served drinks in wax paper cups or styrofoam cups? or maybe they were just too cheap to hire a dishwasher.

Have you drank out of an aluminum bottle.... ? Anyone that tried using that in a fight would be at a severe disadvantage.
