Decided to give Dreamcard a try, since my local casino tends to have a lot of the gimmicky-type video poker games (like Look Ahead, Super Look Ahead and Hot Roll Poker). For those who aren't aware of the game, you must bet 10 credits instead of 5 (insane, I know!) and depending on the type of game you play, your odds to receive a dreamcard will vary. I believe Jacks or Better will give you a dreamcard 50.5% of the time, but I played Double Double Bonus and it appears around 33% of the time.

The dreamcard will be your 5th card dealt and will be the card that best improves your hand. My session started off horribly, but eventually I had the best session of my life! Here are some pics of what I hit in my 3 hours at the machine. In total I hit 19 4 of a kinds, 3 straight flushes and a royal. I hit everything on the pay table except 4 - 4,3,2 with a kicker.

Even when I was losing, I was having a blast.

Here are some pics of my better hits:

Nice hits! I like Dream Card, but it's hard to find it with a good paytable at a low denomination. St. Louis yanked all the standalone games. Only high limit five star units left :( The feature does help the low paying non-wild games a lot though by making full houses less frequent because you'll never get dealt 2 pair with a Dream Card. It ups the game's return that you were playing by almost 1%!

So given the recent VP downgrade at Vegas CET props, is dreamcard one of the better bets now available?

Um, maybe at quarters. I forget what paytables were for that in the first place. You gotta play a minimum of triple play though on non-spin poker versions though and machines without "Five Star Poker" which is the single line game pictured. Bally's has the only regular DC machine in all of CET Vegas, but many more properties have Five Star games. I dunno if those all have DC on them though. PHo has one for as cheap as quarters, I know that, because I made sure they downgraded STP on it. :(

I dunno what the paytables are, but here are some examples what some games pay back that would be decent for CET. They can easily be worse since it's CET though.

    8/5 JoB = 97.73%
8/5 Boner Deluxe = 98.11% (Bellagio has this on a Spin Poker w/DC for nickels! 9/5 at quarters = 99.07%!)
    8/5 DDB = 97.51%

Ballys has 3/5/10 play video poker with Dream Card, 3 machines down from the Five Star machine on the back wall. I played a lot of 5c 5 and 10 play and did the best I've done on any other video poker my last trip. Best hit was dealt 4 to the Royal (no deuce) and the fifth filled in with the Royal Flush for $2k payout. Be careful though because on the one in Flamingo Five Star machine when you get dealt 3 wilds on DW and one of the Royal the fifth will give you another card to give a Royal with Deuces and you have to manually change the Dream Card to the fourth Deuce. Not played any other game other than DW on it and for sure almost every session on it was a winner for me. Same deal with the 5c Ultimate X at Cromwell. Had very good luck on those as well. I always left after a good hit. By the way the Ultimate X as Cromwell seemed to reset if you leave a multiplier so never found one left on there although I did cash out twice without playing them off and it stayed on the screen while I put the ticket straight back in and enabled me to play them off on 5 coins. I'm sure the paytables are bad but they worked well for me. Better to win on a bad paytable than lose on a good one, lol.

I played Dream Card at Bellagio, and liked it a lot, but had little time, didn't even play a half hour since I only spotted the machine on my last night in January. They have DDB at 9/5, and TDB at 8/6, quarter denom. I didn't even look at other games since I was pretty drunk, and semi rushed. Here's a pic of my best hit . 20150124_084152.jpg

For whatever reason, the spin poker with dream card there had better payables than that. 9/6 for TDB quarters. And even betterthan that, 9/5 Boner Deluxe (99.07%). Anywhere from 1 to 9 lines can be played. The unit I saw with that was halfway between the baccarat bar and the Hermes store.

I will be looking for that machine in sept. I don't mind playimg spin poker for three lines, just like triple play.
