Never have been to vegas in December, thinking of going the 13th - 16th, what should we expect? (in regards to crowds and costs)

I was hoping to get better prices than when we usually go (beginning of Summer, early June) but so far no deals have popped up. Planning on staying at Golden Nugget but their specials are only through September. Do they usually offer December deals in the next month? Thanks for any info!

I actually prefer to visit LV during the winter months, and all of my stays are downtown, and all of them are at The Golden Nugget - like your thinking already

I find the crowds to be a lot smaller than the summer months, less DBish, more of a mature crowd, and the weather is great. Drink service everywhere is a lot better, restaurants are less crowded. IMO there isn't a better time to go.

As far as Golden Nugget December specials are concerned, they will be hitting your inbox probably by the end of next month. A few years ago, shortly after the Rush Tower was opened my December offer for a Rush Tower room for $59 weeknights and $79 weekends with a comped coupon book..Of course that was in 2010, and I cant remember what I got last year from them. Get a Landrys card ($25) and you will get a free upgrade when you check in. Hope this helps...

I've stayed on the strip in December and it is pretty quiet. I found that I spent a lot of time downtown because, even though it was not crowded, it had a very lively and festive atmosphere. I'm staying at the nugget in November and can't wait to spend a few days downtown.:peace::beer:

We went to LV last December and was there during Rodeo week. So if you are there during that timeframe they will have a different country act at the GN showroom. Of course you pay. And they will also have free cc rodeo viewing at GN

As said earlier crowds are less, no lines for the most part. Also we had rain for a day and it snowed on Mt Charleston so we got cool pictures.

Not a bad time to go. And you can finish Christmas shopping if needed.

Those are some really good reasons to go in December. I'm glad I booked. Same weekend. Charlie Daniels is playing at the Orleans that Saturday night.

Nicky, this may sound a bit picky but... I think another good reason to stay downtown is the canopy seems to keep things warmer and the wind is cut considerably. Makes for an environment where you can walk around without a jacket. Not sure, do they still set up the giant Christmas tree on Fremont?

I'm going the week prior and I do believe NFR will still be going on. When we went during NFR before, the crowds were a bit more than we had experienced in other winter months, but still better than the DB summer months as mentioned previously. Dec-Feb is my favorite time to visit Vegas.
