    Hi everyone,
Wondering if anyone has opinions on one over the other? Have never stayed downtown but the wife and I enjoy playing downtown so thought we'd stay a night on our upcoming trip.

The big perk I found for The Grand was that they have a deal with $50 slot play if you book with them.

I would choose the Grand. The Nugget is starting to show it's age. The Grand is brand new. Everything is new, clean and classy. The staff is much friendlier. The casino is a lot smaller and a lot less crowded, but to me, that's a good thing. Plus, it will be a lot cheaper.

The Nugget is right on Fremont, but the Grand is only about a minute or two walk to the canopy.

The Grand is a beautiful, beautiful property... The Nugget, of course, is the "Gold Standard" downtown IMHO. It's much busier than the Grand, with lots more food options, etc. That said, I vote to give the Grand a shot... it really is a fine looking joint!

Have a great trip!!! Post a pic or two of your room if you get the chance. Thx.

Btw, if you are in the mood for a great steak dinner, at a reasonable cost, try Triple George right across Third Street from the DTG. You won't be disappointed.

Second Triple George! I had a fantastic lunch there last week... Love the food and upscale atmosphere without being stuffy or snooty.

How is the noise at GN from the bands and canopy? Not sure if we'd use the pool. Going in April so it shouldn't be too hot and I just had surgery on my shoulder and I can't soak it yet.

Pardon my stupidity, but we haven't been to Vegas in a while and I am confused. Is the Downtown Grand located where the Lady Luck used to be? I believe this to be the case. We are trying to line up a trip in late October, and want to stay downtown, but want something new. Thanks!

Not stupid at all JennJenn, just ignorant. :poke::poke::poke: As in not yet knowing.

    I kid.

It is actually the Lady Luck - they renovated it but its the same superstructure.

They did a good job, you'll like it.

Ha Ha Ha Royal Flusher! For some reason I thought Gold Spike was renamed, and changed, again. I will have to check DG out for our next trip. I am getting tired of the small bathrooms of Four Queens, Fremont, MSS, and California....We live in the Detroit area, and really don't want to stay at The D let alone get a coney. Ha ha

When is your next trip to Vegas? It's time to fire up the trip reports. I love your trip reports!

Thank you. Funny you should ask, second person today to ask about that... I wish I had a trip coming soon. But I just don't.

However.... I do have some material from a vintage trip that I think I will write up. It will have to do.

I hear ya on the bathrooms. Especially the Four Queens. I had to knock a wall out in order to be able to (fill in the blank)>!
