We are planning our trip downtown in late September during the Life Is Beautiful festival. We have not decided on if we are going to pick up passes yet but we're curious about how busy Fremont street and the dowtown hotels are during that weekend? We would appreciate any feedback about experiences during the festival the last two years.

    Thanks!

I was there last year downtown during the festival, but not at the festival itself. Since the concerts moved a few blocks further east, I don't think there was a large impact to Fremont at all. Aside, of course, from astronomical hotel rates. The traffic wasn't even a real issue. Maybe others had a different experience, but to me the crowds were not really that much larger than I would expect on a normal weekend downtown. It has become so much more popular the crowds are there, festival or no festival.

Two years ago I decided to take my rental car downtown Saturday afternoon, unaware of the festival. Parking everywhere was $20 and up and valet was open only for guests. I kept driving.
