We will be arriving Downtown on Christmas day. Having never been downtown on Christmas before, we are wondering what it's like food-wise. Do the stand by's (Magnolias, MSS Buffet, etc) offer anything special for Christmas meals and if so, do they charge extra? We picked downtown for 12/25 and 26 as hopefully it will be quiet and we can get some rest before getting our normal gamble on. But, that being said, we need to eat as well and don't really want to spend an extraordinary amount just to eat. We are ok with anything, and not usually into fine-dining. So, Magnolia's, MSS Buffet, ElCo cafe type of thing will suit us just fine.

    Thanks in advance!

My wife and I usually do Christmas in LV. Most of the major hotel/casino restaurants are open - but some of those will close early.

Many of the nicer restaurants will offer a smaller Prix Fixe menu. They usually start posting them online 2 to 3 weeks before the holiday.

Its been a few years since we were there on Christmas, but Garden Court buffet was open and so was the 777. But as mentioned, it's a little early to try and pin this down. Wait until the week before.

The thing I always get a chuckle out of is to walk on Fremont on the morning of the 26th. The crews are out there removing all signs of Christmas and getting ready for NYE. By the end of the day, you'd never know it happened.

I've only been Downtown on Christmas once. We arrived on Christmas day around 10:30 pm or so. We stayed at the Cal and it was absolutely dead. Like a morgue, lol!

No problem getting a table and eating at the café. It was basically the same for the 26th thru the 28th. No crowds, easy to eat where-ever you wanted.

On the 29th and 30th it started to get very crowded. Lots of people coming in to celebrate NYE. And the Cal would raise one craps table minimum to $10.00.
