    My Trip Report

Well, I guess I should write a review since I've been reading all of y'alls.

This was my first trip to Vegas in about 10 years, and my first stay downtown. I booked my trip back in December, and started counting the days. First vacation I've had in 10 years, and first full week off from work in 2 years, oh yeah, I need this.

    Monday, April 21
So, my friend and I get to the airport and, get through the security check. Wasn't too bad, but since this was the day after Easter it was a bit of a wait. Plane left about 10 min late, but we had a hour layover in Dallas so that should be enough time... right? Well, turns out that the gate for Vegas was on the other side of the terminal, so by the time we got there we only had about 15min until take off. But, hey, we made it. Take off was interesting. There was a lot of cloud cover, so it kind of felt like a roller coaster ride until we got above the clouds.

Get into Vegas, and over to the baggage claim. Here's the first surprise for my friend. I got us a limo from Presidential. She really liked that surprise, or maybe it was the booze waiting in there... I don't know for sure. I asked our driver to take the strip since she's never been to Vegas before, and it's been so long since I'd been there. WOW things have changed. I saw the mob for people trying to get into the Cromwell since it opened that day.

Get to the 4Queens, and check in. Sounded like they were booked full. Got the last single king bed, and it was in the north tower. From reading what other people have said I was kind of nervous about the noise from FSE, but what the heck, who sleeps before midnight anyway.

Get up to the room, and it's not too bad. Not huge by any means, but better then a Motel6. I open the window, and the AC unit is right outside our window :grrr:. But, I can see the canopy for FME, and the McD sign for the one in The D. So, could have been worse.

We decided to be kind of lazy, and got room service, and relax for a little bit. So, after eating, and watching some TV I decided to get to it. My friend was starting to not feel good, so she stayed in the room.

I go down, and was kind of surprised on how empty it looked at about 10pm. So, I sign up for their players card, and hit the BJ table.

I buy-in for $100. Didn't have much luck, but was able to spread it out for about 2 hours or so. But, at the end, I couldn't get anything going. I'd double down on 11, and get a 2 type hands. So, I buy-in for another $100. Well, the dealer was shocked on the run of cards...on how quick I lost that. It lasted about 20 min. Hands go so much faster when you're the only one at the table. Didn't help that she got 3 BJ in a row. So, I figured I'd stop for the night. Go back up and pass out. Down 200 in 3 hours. Not a good way to start.

    Tuesday, April 22
We wake up at about 9am, and want some Starbucks. So, I go down to Golden Nugget. Saw my first raving person in the middle of the street, but on the way back a couple of security guards were talking to her. Looked like the GN was changing out some carpet, they had a big section roped off, and some guys working on it. Get back to the room, and have our coffee.
So, my friend needed to take a shower, and get ready for the day. So, me being the great friend I am left her, and went down to kill some time. Put $80 in the VP machine. Nothing big there. Hit some straights, and full houses, but nothing outstanding. Was going to hit the craps, but there wasn't anyone there. So, I figured I'd try the video craps. Yeah, not so well, there goes another $100.
So, she comes down, and we sit at the bar, and have a couple of mimosas. I put $20 in both our VP machines. After about 5 hands of her playing deuces wild.... she hits 4 2's. grrrrrr She's up $300 in about 15 min. Beginners luck I guess. I made her an appointment to get her hair cut as a surprise, so we walk down there. After that, we went back to the hotel, and got some dinner at Magnolia's. Afterwards we had tickets to Vegas! The Show. We got there a bit late, it's a longer walk then what I thought. It was a good show, we both liked it. Lots of older music that we both like, and good dancing. Having a good looking lady swinging over my head with almost nothing on for part of it didn't hurt. :evillaugh

So after the show, we head back to the 4queens, and sit at the bar that faces out to FME. I put about $40 in there, and still nothing. She was starting to feel sick again, so she headed up to the room to rest. I head over to the craps table, and buy in for $200. There were a few good rolls from several different people. After about 2 hours I cashed out at $425. So that pretty much wiped out what I lost that day. So, I went to bed happy.

I wake up at about 10ish. My friend is feeling even worse(no fun being sick on vacation). So, I head down to the craps table again, I didn't want to catch what she had :wink2:
I bought in for $300, and after about 2 hours, lost about $150 of that. And, I would have been playing alone, and that's just no fun. So, I decided to walk over to the D, and see how that was. Walked in, and did notice that the music was a lot louder then other places, but wasn't too bad for me at least. They had a lot more people in there than the 4Queens. They had 5 people around the craps table, so I figured.. why not. I buy-in for $200. After about a hour, I was down to my last $50 or so. I was about to give in when things changed. A group of 3 guys walked up, got some chips. Well, all 3 of them had monster rolls. At least 30+ min each. At then end of their rolls I had about $800+ in front of me. One of the dealers came back from lunch, and just looked at my stack and said, "You seam to be doing better". I could just grin and nod. After they were done rolling, they left, and my stack started to go down. So, I finally cashed out at $525. WOOHOO my first ever $500 chip. That helped wipe out what I've lost so far for the week. So, I was feeling good. I figured hey, I'm doing good, let's try some more BJ. Yeah, bad mistake. 30 min, and down $100 later, I left.

We had reservations at Gordon Ramsay Steak that night. My friend still wasn't feeling good, but she insisted that I go. I'm glad she did. I get there, and was tempted to ask one of the lady's at the front desk to join me. :evillaugh WOW
All I can say is if you have a chance, go. It's the best food I've ever had. I had the Caesar salad, beef Wellington, and the sticky toffee pudding. And, I got an order of the Mac & Cheese for my friend to go. Oh my. I can die happy now.

I go back, and drop off dinner for my friend. And, then head down to craps again. I bought in for $400 this time. I played for about 3 hours, and cashed out at $325. So, not as good as earlier. But, not as bad as it could have been. Head back up, and pass out.

    Thursday April 24
The last day. Crud. So, we get up, and get ready to check out. Pack up everything, and head on down. We check out, and check our bags since our ride back won't be there until about 2.

We go and put $20 in the slots, and I still have no luck with them. After that's gone I walk over to the craps table. I figure, what the heck, I only have about a hour left, let's have some fun. So, I buy-in for $500. Down side is I'm the only one at the table. So, the rolls go quick, and so does the money. Cash out at $150... ouch

Limo driver was there, and we headed back to the airport. Wasn't bad of a flight, but our plane from Dallas to Austin was delayed because someone from the previous flight damaged some seats, and we had to wait for maintenance to fix them. 45 min delay... ugh.

Had some fun, and saw some of the new casinos. Next time I'll actually go into them. :) I brought back most of my bank roll, so that's a good start for the next trip. But, next time I think I'm going to try Allegiant, transfers in Dallas stink on a bum leg.

Hope my first report wasn't too bad, and boring. I'll try to do better next time. :) I'm already planning on a trip in October. I'm hoping I can get a couple of free nights out of them.

You sound like a good friend, Tks for the TR. Thinking back, I stayed a few times at the four queens years ago before they remodeled the rooms and I always seemed to get a room in the north building. I always liked that because the elevator is literally 10 feet inside from the FSE. It makes it really easy if your and about on the FSE to go to your room quickly (bathroom, money, brush teeth whatever), and then get back out.

Yeah, she wasn't happy that she couldn't do everything we wanted to do while we were there. But, that just gives another reason to go back. :)

Yeah, I should have just stuck to VP on that last day, but I wasn't there to make money, but to have some fun.

One plus to where our room was is that we could just look out the window and see the show at night. And, yeah, being in the north tower was nice, right near the elevators when you get there so you can run back up if you need to.
