    My Trip Report

Has anyone been to Dover Downs in Delaware? I am considering a weekend trip there (about 4 hour drive from home) but have not heard from anyone with a personal experience. If anyone can share their thoughts with me I'd appreciate it.

I have been to Dover 4-5 times a few years ago, before they added Table Games. Lately I have made several trips into the Casino in Harrington which is South of Dover. Harrington does not have a hotel on site. So I think in terms of the best all around property of the 3 in Delaware it would be Dover as they have more to offer overall. I would think all 3 offer pretty much the same thing as far as the "gaming" goes. Keep in mind: Limited table games, very limited VP, and slots are tight. I think you have to pay for Beer / Mixed drinks. For me Dover and Harrington are just a place to stop in for a couple of hours to have some fun. I would much rather make a weekend trip to Atlantic City or maybe one of the Casinos in PA? Hope this helps. And good luck with whatever you decide to do!

We'll be there in a few weeks. Was there a couple of years back and liked it. Hoping the tables aren't $10/$15 per hand like they typically have...

I live about 45 minutes away from Dover. I've never seen any of their tables cheaper than $10. Even during the early part of the day. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

But if you don't mind about a 30 minute drive south on Rt 13 you can find $5 blackjack, roulette, poker, and craps at Harrington Raceway & Casino in Harrington, DE. I think if you ask you can even get $2.00 blackjack with a $0.25 charge to the house for betting less than $5.

Shades...any idea how much VP they have and how poor the paytables are?

It's been about a year since I've been there, but I only remember VP at the bars, and a few in a little area near the back. I do remember playing 8-5 bonus poker on a quarter triple play machine in the back, but it went downhill from there.
We stayed there to visit family, so our prime concern wasn't gambling, but we weren't terribly impressed.

Well....that's not so horrible. Wynncore's BP is 7/5 and if I recall, a lot of the BP at the Mirage is 6/5:thumbsdown:

the place seems to be going downhill in recent years. Just last night, over 200 people were fighting in the parking lot.

Here's another fight from last New Years Eve (ironically, the date of the first post in this thread)

All that aside, I think the best thing about Dover Downs is their hand shuffled blackjack which does pay 3:2, and can be found as low as $5 min (though usually at least $10)

I haven't been to Dover since MDLive opened there poker room but I might have to give them a visit cause I miss my low limit table games.
