I just booked 3 nights at the Nugget, but since I also get comped rooms on the strip I booked the same 3 nights at Harrahs. My logic is that where I am, I'm home:) I'm curious if others have done this or am I just a lil nuts?

We have "occasionally" made overlapping bookings, when there was an attractive promo, or free-play opportunity.
In your case, since Harrah's has no connection with the Nugget, there's no problem there. However, since your room is comped up front at Harrah's, I would make sure you don't ruin your ADT there, or future offers might suffer. I would also try to make entrance & exit from each room (they can tell) as much as possible, so it looks like you are there. And be sure to put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door.

It is more commonly referred to as "Double Booking"

There are a few people that do it, but not quite the way you are doing it.

The most common reason people double book is to take advantage of offers. IE: if you are going to Las Vegas for 4 nights and are going to stay at The Venetian then you book that, but if The Mirage sends you an offer for stay two nights and get $100 in F&B credit and $300 in free play then you might book that for two nights as well - you will still stay at The Venetian and all that, but you will go over to The Mirage to check yourself in and then gamble and go have dinner on their dime.

For actually having two places to stay it is more often that people just book one night somewhere, rather than an entire overlapping booking. IE: my wife and I prefer to stay on The Strip but we like to go Downtown for at least one night, so we book a week at Monte Carlo but then maybe three days in we book one night at Golden Nugget so we can go Downtown and then gamble and drink all night and have a place to stay.

Im wondering now if I should just cancel it. My wife and I go every October, and fly free due to SW points and stay free due to comps, making it a great "free" trip(if we could only gamble and shop for free!). I would hate to ruin the comps by being greedy/lazy on my solo trip.:)

If there is one day you are planning on going up to The Strip then I'd just book the one night.

It should also be more convenient for you:
if you book overlapping reservations at both hotels for your entire stay then you will leave the airport and go to Harrah's, have to wait until 4PM to check in unless you are paying the early check in fee, then check in, then go to Downtown and stand in line at Golden Nugget and check in there...

Golden Nugget always has a pretty big line for checking in, Harrah's is either a long line or no line, there is rarely ever any inbetween there. Even if your flight arrived right at 3:45PM and you got to Harrah's at 4PM for check in time you could end up spending your first 1.5 hrs of Vegas Time just standing in line or moving between hotels...

I'm actually triple booked for my trip in March. It's not something I would normally do, though I have done double booking before.

On this trip, I started out when I got my normal comp offers for the Riv and decided to go for my birthday. Booked a room for Mar. 18 - 23 with FP and tickets to any of their shows.

Then got an offer from MSS for 3 free days and food credits. I've never stayed downtown and always wanted to, so I decided to take them up on it. Figured may as well extend the trip a little bit since I'll be there anyway. So, booked MSS for Mar. 17 - 19.

And then got an offer from MGM for FP and F&B for 2 free nights. Debated back and forth for days about whether or not to try for hotel #3, but I've got some MyVegas rewards I can redeem and it would be nice to be closer to more action than the Riv. So, I booked MGM for Mar. 20 - 22.

I'll be taking my regular rolling suitcase and a smaller carry case with me. The rolling case will be in my "home" room (MSS 1st and Riv 2nd) and the smaller case in the secondary room. I'll keep the "Do not disturb" on each room to bypass any issues unless it's needed.

I'm optimistically hoping none of it comes back to bite me on the ass.:evillaugh
