    Hi everyone,

Does any body know if you would use your mlife Card when you leave an MGM resort parking or use the valet, if this would trigger a gaming day and would it affect any future offers if you don't play?
I ask this because a friend of mine who is going to vegas asked me if he could take my gold Card to avoid the parking/valet fees. I would be happy to give the Card to him uniess this would trigger a non play gaming days.

    Thanks!

I asked Chuck Bowling at MBay at the May Slot tourney and he said no. Whether that means anything or not. He is the COO. We also discussed my concern that IF IT DID etc. what happens when lets say I FORGET my card in a machine, and someone takes it and now has free parking on my account. ...then we got into the RESALE value of FOUND cards in machines...we had a great convo. He'll get back to me, haha...He said they went through 750 pages of WHAT IF'S, and my question was not one of them. (they must not be drinkers/gamblers who on occasion forget their card in the machine|..And funny after the tourney go to play my freeplay. First machine I sit down at..A NOIR CARD discarded. I take a pic, send it to my EX-host, in Mgmt now, who I also asked the question to...and I said, we have our first card we can sell on the strip for free parking!!!!! (certainly not my intention, but someone's gonna do it)..Luckily he knew the player and I delivered it to HL where he was playing.

    Interesting question.
I have not parked there, but assume the card is swiped, and therefore your number is in a computer system.
And in reality, they "comped" your parking.

Sounds like they have not linked that activity into their ADT calculations.

Good question - I am surprised they did not think about the possibility of cards being left in a slot and others taking it for parking purposes. It was my first thought actually.

They must not have asked the right people about the "What If's". I suspect that the MLIFE staff would have mentioned this as being a possible issue.

IM ALL IN - if you hear back I am curious - please post back - thank you!!

Ugh. My guess is that, if it doesn't already trigger a gaming day, it probably will in the future.

I think if you're not eligible for free parking, you can charge parking fees to your room if you're staying there. IF you get Tier Credits on that spend, then it's more integrated with the rewards system as compared to simply retrieving your status, and it probably triggers a day. Besides the fact that they know that you were on the premises.

On the other hand, if he said it definitively, I would tend to believe the COO of MB until proven otherwise.

At the same tourney I also asked Dan (Director of National Marketing) as well as Rick (SVP of Casino Operations) and they both said no. My second question to them was will I have to put in a PIN while swiping my card for parking? And they said NO, it's just a swipe. I asked..So anyone can use my card if they find it?...I'll email Dan today to get an update. I don't use parking but I do have a friend meeting me Jul 7 and she rents a car, and I think she just has the bottom tier card so I'll have to give her one of mine.

Do you just swipe you card on exit - or when you enter? Wondering about arriving for a trip after October if you have not yet gotten your new card. I assume the expired card will not work so you need a new card before you do the swipe but I would guess that is only when you leave.

Generally, the account number on your card is what they use. It never expires, even the actual card might have an expiration date on it. Your account is still active, but maybe at a different tier. I often play with 2 year old cards.

You need to swipe to enter and then also to leave. Alternatively you can take a ticket to enter, throw it away and then swipe to exit. I had to do this when my card wouldn't work when I came back to Luxor one day. I believe you can also take a ticket and have that ticket validated using your card at a pay kiosk, but I am not sure why anyone would do this. Except maybe if you were using your card to validate someone else's parking without them actually using your card to exit etc.

Hah, so do I. I still have my NOIR card from 2014, when a couple years ago they downgraded everyone from NOIR to Plat, who didn't have 3 mil in tier credits, or bought into the condos (originally they gave everyone (now I'm just telling what I knew couple years ago, this may not be true now)...who bought a condo at City Centre recieved NOIR cards, and found the people were using the benefits of lounges etc, without gambling)...I was told they all needed to be weeded thus the downgrade to anyone who had NOIR who hadn't made 3 mill at least on points. (I was in the 2 mill range, but remember back then you accumulated points at 40% as a Noir, not the 30% as a Plat)..and on and on. I'm just a Plat now. But I still can use my old Noir card in the machine if suddenly neither of my Plat cards are working.

We get free parking in AC with our Platinum card. They never check to see if it's ours. Sometimes they scan it but they usually just look at it and wave us through.

Again... clearly the message and training has not been recieved by all staff in typical mgm fashion!

I'm in the $500 buy in Slotty at Bellagio July 7 and I don't car. I limo. But I have a gf who is coming down. She rents a car cause she shops for 12 hours a day whereas I gamble for 12 hours a day. What I wanted to know, can I give her my Plat extra card to pay for the parking at Bellagio?...I'm apparently no longer in the KNOW.

I actually was wondering if I could give an extra gold card to some poor soul with a car who had to pay for parking. (We fly.)

I then decided, who knows what penalties may come if someone uses your card for parking down the road. Or worse, if I have free play and they can crack my not-so-james-bond pin #. (No, it 's not 1234 though, not that bad.)

AL in all, I will definitely be careful leaving my card in a machine. For now it doesn't seem to be a problem, but at $8-$10 a day for parking, it will.

Father in law will still get my card though! :D

"Hypothetically, if you had no room and no other comps going on at MGM Resorts and you used your card for entry/exit it would NOT register as a gaming day."

Anyone know if when scanning your mLife card (Pearl and above) to get free self-parking, if mLife considers this a day?

I am staying off strip (then The Linq) and plan to drive to many MGM properties for restaurants and shows. Have no plans for gambling at MGM this trip (and if I do, not to give my card since such short period of time), and do not want to ding my ADT through a 5-day 'trip' when I only used my card to get into parking garages?

    Any experiences from members here?

I believe there was a thread (I looked in a couple and didn't find the post) where a member had asked an exec at Mandalay Bay about this and the answer was no.

The problem with that answer is that you can earn Tier Credits for parking fees if you have to pay them. So if you're parking for free, they may look at it as a comp, besides the fact that simply using the card tells them you were there..

A lot of me wants to lean towards it triggering a gaming day, but there just isn't any evidence one way or the other yet, except for that one comment, and I can't find it.

Because MLife generates offers on a slow schedule, it may take a few months until someone does what you're expecting to do and then sees whether their offers take a hit.

Thanks for the info Chuck2009x! I think I remember that thread as well about asking the exec, but also could not find it?

It makes renting a car for strip visits almost not worth it. If you don't have at least Pearl in MLife, then the points from parking can go on your card for Tier Credits - because of this I also am thinking that a gaming day is triggered because of the comp - just like using HL lounges where your card must be swiped.

Uber/Lyft, taxis, shuttles, buses, monorail - sounds better if you are staying strictly on the strip, otherwise parking and no/low playing could hurt offers!

Yeah I think especially if you were going to do this on multiple days, I would either pay the fee and not use my card, or find the cheapest way to get there, until there's proof one way or the other.
