I know that MLife pearl status is no big thing but would CET even think about trying to match it -- and if so, what would the CET equivalent be?

Never seen MGM or CET match each other. Gracie (Venetian) has been know to do it. Though the perks are not worth diddly.

Cosmo has also been know to do it.

It would pretty much be platinum, and theres pretty much no way they'd match it. But I'd say thats the closest comparison. Maybe a little benefit with some line cutting and a different card to flash but thats it.

No, they don't match each others status: there isn't anything for them to gain by rewarding you for your gambling at their competition.

Also, there isn't any Total Rewards equivalent to MLife's PEARL status as MLife's GOLD is more on par with Total Rewards' PLATINUM and other than the base card, Total Rewards doesn't have a level below PLATINUM.

In the past Total Rewards and Club Grazie did match status, but that was a few years ago when the two were exchanging member information. Cosmopolitan was matching status when they first opened but they weren't really giving that matched status people the full benefit of the higher status and they were only doing that to build up their initial customer database and get information from people on their gambling habits based on their status with other programs.
