this may be a silly question but I wasnt sure if this was even possible.

I know I will need to give them a credit card for any incidentals, but can I pay for my room using cash? has anyone done this before?

    thanks

If you are one of the lucky ones with cash in your pocket at the end of the trip - absolutely they will take cash.

Some folks prefer to charge in case there is a later issue with the bill - it might be easier to resolve through the credit card company if needed.

lol, I had a VERY successful trip a few years ago and ended up paying for 3 nights in an Aria Sky Suite in cash.

it shouldn't be a problem at any hotel.

thanks for the reply. so would I just go to the front desk at the end of my stay, and just pay there? it sounds so weird even saying it, as Ive always paid for hotel rooms with credit cards before (and Ive never seen anyone use cash at the front desk for anything). but I guess its just like buying anything else.

what kind of issues could there be? if they say I owe $1000 at the end of my stay, and I pay it, what potential problems could I run into?

nah, not a dumb question at all TBH.

when you're checking out and clearing up your bill, make sure you examine the detailed receipt that they give you to ensure that it all checks out (mistakes do happen from time to time).

    I've paid cash at check-out a few times. Won't be a problem.

The only issue would be if you didn't have a credit card to make the reservation and for the hotel to hold for incidental charges. You'd need to provide a cash deposit at check-in.

As long as you don't use the check out on the TV in your room and go to the front desk, they will ask if you want to put the charges on the card and you just say, "No thank you, I'll pay cash."

You could go to the checkout desk the night before or morning of departure and ask them to print out your bill, then review it - they are happy to answer questions and assist if any issues - it's better to resolve to your satisfaction before you finish checking out - always ask for a printed receipt. They will tell you they will email you a copy, but occasionally that doesn't actually happen. You can also view your room charges on your TV - but be careful not to actually check out unless you really are checking out!

Potential issues are resort fees being charged if they shouldn't have been, meal charges to your room that aren't yours, incorrect charge amounts for any number of reasons - doesn't happen often, but mistakes do occur from time to time. If you review the bill before you pay, there shouldn't be any problems later.

( I swear at Mirage, every time we 'view' our bill on checkout day, the darn thing actually checks us out - happened two stays in a row - and husband and I know we did not 'accidentally' hit the checkout option - not fun when you go to charge breakfast and restaurant shows you already checked out)...:evillaugh

I check my bills and charges on tv everyday. Then if there is a problem, I can address it immediately

Follow up question - has anyone had a problem where they pay with cash and then the casino still accidentally charged your credit card that they had file from making the reservation?

MGM Grand would not let me do this last year, Cromwell would not let me do this in January. For the people saying they have done this, could you please include when it was? Rules change all the time. I would suggest calling (or emailing) your specific hotel and asking.

What would they not let you do, vegas superfan? They wouldn't let you pay in cash? or they wouldn't let you check in without a credit card? I have never heard of a casino hotel refusing to take cash at checkout.

I paid cash when I checked out at Ballys in Feb, it wasn't a problem. When I do check out and paid by cash I would ask them to write on my receipt "paid by cash" I pay by cash because of the exchange rate and my credit card also charges 2% on American charges.
I have had a hotel keep the hold on the charges on my credit card for about week then it came off.

Are you saying you walked up to the desk to checkout, attempted to hand them cash for your stay and they would not take your money?
