Have you ever had to ask for a clean room or had problems with your room?
What was the issue and the outcome?

I've never had an issue with a dirty room besides a wet spot on the floor.

However, my friend said she once opened a drawer and found a couple of vibrators. Ew.

Once, probably 10 years ago, I checked into the Treasure Island and went up to my room only to find that it had been completely missed by the cleaning crew, yet somehow cleared for incoming guests. The whole room looked "well-partied" in let's say. I just went back down and was assigned another room... they, of course, apologized for the inconvenience.

I thought that would be a good way to get a room comped. Just bring a couple vibrators and call the housekeeping manager to complain. An amusing thought, a total Dbag move. I'm not enough of a dick to do it.

Checked into a room at the Mirage that supposedly was non-smoking [i think they only have one smoking floor], as we walked in it was like getting punched in the face with 10 packs of cigarettes. We didn't even unpack, I called up the front desk very irate and explained the situation. We were assigned to another room and the room card keys programmed without us having to go back downstairs. We received an apology and a discount on the stay. Couldn't have asked for a better way to handle the situation.
I even got an email follow up after the trip apologizing again.
When I went down to talk to someone the next day about getting another room card key, I asked what they do about that and they said that the person who was in there before will get billed a nice chunk for having the room de-smoked.
Just makes you wonder how stupid people are sometimes. Sad that you can't wait even 5 minutes to walk downstairs to smoke, pathetic really.

Checked into a non-smoking room at Harrah's AC that was full of stink. Complained to housekeeping and they said they would send up an ozone machine to clean the room but we'd have to leave the room for 3 hours. No problem. We left at 5pm and got back to the room at midnight. It still stunk. I called to complain and they said they were embarrassed but they couldn't find the ozone machine. The person on the phone irritated me and we wound up checking out in a huff. Went down to the front desk and was told the hotel was sold out but they could put me in a smoking Atrium suite and give me $40 credit.

Checked in at MGM on St. Patrick's Day. "Do you NEED 2 queens?" YES. *tap tap tap on the keyboard* "Do you NEED non smoking?" YES. *tap tap tap* here you go. 9th floor, long walk down the hall. Open the door to see the sheets off the bed, the beds off the frames, the frames off the head boards and the head boards ripped from the wall. As if someone took their aggression out on the room and they then decided to give it to me. Called the font desk and was told to come back down to deal with the situation. I got a half-hearted apology from a different clerk... "....Do you NEED 2 queens?" "Do you NEED non smoking?" I was like YOUVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. YES. They end up giving me a ground floor room with a view of a service alley(Didn't care) down a private hallway, about 30 yards from the casino floor. Totally silent. Wound up being very nice until Continental cancelled/uncancelled my flght 5 times in an hour. Think I lost 10 years off my life in that hour.

It wasn't in Vegas but in Vancouver B.C. We had a long hard day on the road being held up with accidents and such. Anyway we arrive at our hotel in DT Vancouver and get ready to grab some sleep. I am stowing stuff away and come across this...

Damn I did some searching and I can't find the pic to post but we found...

KY his and her's lube sitting on top of the bible in a drawer of the nightstand.

First words out of my mouth were Holy F---.

My girl looked and said "Yea I think you got that one right"

We hit the desk and booked out of not just the room but the property entirely.

It took a couple of hours but we did find better accommodations.

Checked into Hard Rock on a comp last October and gave a $20 to the front desk clerk for an upgrade. He gave us a room in the All Suites tower, and the room was filthy and to be quite honest it sucked. Wasn't a suite at all. Went down to complain at the HRH All Suites front desk and there was Duff McKagen. Got to talk to him for a few minutes, ogle his hot wife and they switched my room out to the Paradise Tower.

Checked into the room where it was clean except for someone must of just had some carnal knowledge on the bed, condom in the trashcan. I was amused, the gf not so much. I've never seen a cleaning crew show up so fast and redo the bed.

Nope, never experience that issue...most we had was opening door to room and seeing it was already occupied.

    Have had couple issues now.

Last year stayed at Bellagio in a mountain view corner room. The room had a ton of black mold in the shower. They comped us 1 night and moved us to a corner fountain room. The other room had black mold in it as well but not as bad.

This last trip at Aria, had black mold in the shower. first day called down, said housekeeping would clean it. came back that night and the keys didnt work, and mold still persisted. Went down to desk the next morning and said a supervisor would be up to check on it, and they will comp all resort fees, our food from the previous day and $100 credit.

Was supposed to get non-Smoking room and was clearly given a smoking room. It was a disaster and the beginning of a bad trip.

Two other times the room smelt a bit but the cleaning crew was in the hall and I borrowed some of their spray and it really works in both scenarios.

These three issues were in three different hotels.

Nothing really new to this. If you travel enough you'll occasionally find things that range from a silly inconvenience to something rather disgusting. Deebags smoking in non-smoking rooms likely is the most prevalent, or housekeeping just missing a room. We had a rather substantial bug in the bedding at Orleans once, but isn't that just part of the charm of life in the "bayou"? lol Housekeeping's response was priceless when we called down: "And what do you want us to do about it?" Pre-owned condom on the floor at Roachera once (Rob's room, not mine). Couple times I checked in to Imperial Pallor and was somewhat taken aback by conditions only to learn that, no, that was just a standard room at IP. We checked into a condo at Kierland in Scottsdale once that clearly was still being occupied. Once showed up in Kauai and the resort had no record of us but eventually offered a "solution" that would've been twice the nightly cost of our rezzie; thank god for smartphones and vrbo.com as we quickly found a great condo right there in Princeville.

    Stuff happens.
