What's the difference between a dining credit and a resort credit?

The only difference is that a "resort credit" does not have to be specifically used for purchasing meals, it can be spent anywhere on the property including the gift shop, but the reality is, most of the time it is just used for meals. Remember, these credits cannot be used for tips, and it is etiquette to tip on the full amount of the meal.

You will also sometimes here it be called a "folio credit".

I didn't think a resort credit could be used for retail. I assume this also might be different by company.
