Hi all. Hubs and I are headed back to LV again. We were just there may 2016 at the Linq (LUV the linq) but we are going for a do over . My father in law died unexpectedly right before our trip in May which we rescheduled to end if May THEN my mom had a massive heart attack while we were there ( she's on the mend now) so needless to say our May trip was less then 'exuberant '. Going 9/17-9/19 so hubs can bet NFL. The Linq is too much. Got the el Cortez Cabana Jr. Suite about $200. Been there before and like it and now that container park and updated dining and bars are in the area the location isn't a bother BUT just saw i can get Golden Nugget Carson Tower King for same price. Never stayed at GN. Most of our stays are on the strip previously - been at the plaza and the D DT. So- I ask you all which would you choose? The El CS or GN Carson King? Thanks!!

I like to stay where I play and I prefer playing at the GN over El Co. I have never stayed at El Co, I do hear good things about the Cabana suite rooms.

You can't go wrong with either. If it were me, I would stay at El Cortez because I would gamble there more than at GN. Plus, you're closer to Donut Bar!

The Carson rooms are getting pretty rough (haven't been updated in many years and it is obvious). I stayed in one in August last year (stayed there so my teens could go to the pool) and visited friends staying there in April. I would definitely go for Cabana Suites personally.

I have stayed in El Cortez Cabana suites a couple of times. They are nice and I found them to be quiet if you want to get away from the noise of Freemont. I will be staying there again in August.

    Another vote for El Cortez.
    1) free ice cold water and fruits
    2) shorter walk to the room. GN is going to be a long walk.
    3) no smoking
    4) close to Subway, where I get my coffee every morning
    5) if you are a senior, 50% off every Wednesday at their cafe
