    My Trip Report

We'll see how this goes. I've stalked everyone else's trip reports so I figure it's my turn to contribute! I'm sitting at Bishop International (Flint, Mi). What an airport! If you're used to large metro airports, you'll love this one. 11 gates, literally everyone here is waiting to get on the LV flight! Kind of fun! Last night I had some flight drama, I read about the high wind warnings, worried, didn't sleep, and at 5:30 am cancelled my flight out of Detroit, payed way too much and rebooked out of Flint for about $300 more, 5 hours later and no more wind warning. Husband was great to me! Thankful for him. Oh yeah, he stays home! He's not part of the Detroit Rat Pack!

Ok about us, two lawyers and his Irish wife, really she's from Belfast! Birds of a feather, Ernie and I are gamers, me craps and slots, him blackjack, his wife, Irish, she plays slots. Ernie ex cop turned atty, does criminal defense, best around. Me? Atty, used to be prosecutor, now defense atty also does bankruptcies. By the way, gambling losses dischargable in bankruptcies! We visit "church" at least twice a month. And now we are off to "Rome!"

So now onto the important stuff. I'm staying at the Signature, they are staying at Encore. I need full fridge for champaign, beer, and vodka. They arrive tomorrow, I'll be there by 5 pm. On the agenda, Jabberwalkies (free through my Vegas) Sinatra's, GR Steak, Andea's, Picasso, lunch tea at Mandrian, Fireside, UNLV, downtown, and Rose, Rabbit Lie.

I know how to post pics, so hopefully I'll update everyday!

Peace and Love all you Stern fans out there! And I'll catch you on the flip side!!

Ok day 1 in the books! I got in at 5:20 pm ish. It took forever for me to get the rental car from Dollar. I had purchased the compact car for$173 a week. There was an additional offer where the company can pick the car, I'm assuming this is for the hopes of an up grade. The clerk asked me if a Murcury Marquis would be ok, I thought that was pretty good, until I got out to the garage. The guy who gives me the car says, "you know you have that deal where we can pick the car for you. I can get you any car in the garage.". I tipped him $20 and in ten seconds I was driving a convertible Mustang! I was so excited I almost couldn't drive.

Once I arrived at the Signature I $20'd the front desk in hopes of a high floor, I got 12th floor. I had MyVegas rewards for Jaberwalkies @7, it was 6:15 by the time I got to my room!

I was 15 minutes late to the show. The show was fine but a bit too long. Great dancing and geared for the 23 year olds. At on point we got up and did the Harlem Shuffle in our seats.

After that up and down at Luxor. Picked up my girlfriend from the Wynn and off we went to downtown. Visited The D, it was okay, but still bums everywhere, the casino was loud, and I thought it would be more like the Downtown Grand. I hadn't eaten anything all day so I had the coney dog from Coney Island. Im from Detroit, so I thought it was fun to eat a coney on Freemont.

From there we went to the sign, and got harassed by some guy who wanted us to buy a picture from him. Annoying! After the sign, Peppermill. Never been there, very excited to go! We sat in the fire pit, ordered 2 girly drink, and enjoyed the characters. Two drinks, $20! That's a deal!

I live much closer to Metro Airport, but at times still use Bishop airport because its cheaper, quicker, and far less hassle.

Nice start to the report thusfar.

Ok so I apologize for this coming so late. I only took my IPad with me on the trip and when I tried to transfer pictures it wouldn't let me. So I'm at my computer at the office and I think I have this down!

    So day 2, May 12, 2014

I picked up the remainder of the Rat Pack from the airport and off we went to the liquor and grocery store. I love that Total Wine and Liquor, it's a giant chain liquor store, so I decided to forego Lee's Discount Liquor and take the drive out there. We added Ernie the Attorney as the second driver (he doesn't drink) so I thought he would be perfect to haul us around. The line at the Dollar Rental by the airport was so long that we went to the off-site location by UNLV, no line $12 per day to add him, and within 15 minutes we were ready to have lunch.

N-and-Out here we come! We had never eaten here and wanted to see what the fuss was all about. I thought it was pretty good. If you have never been there be forewarned that there are only 3 things on the menu and if you are trying to eat healthy, forget about it! There was a distinct freshness to the lettuce, tomato, and onion. Buns also tasted fresh. I would definitely go back! Plus with the amount of $$ I spend on dinners and gambling, it was nice to pay $7 for lunch. :Þ

Then off we went to Total Wine and Liquor. I followed my GPS on my phone and it took us to a very nice neighborhood. We spent over an hour picking out wine, vodka, and champagne . As I'm checking out, my credit card was declined  I asked the lady if she would hold my order while I called, and I didn't even need to speak with anyone they took me through an automated system to correct the problem. All set, booze bought and we are ready for grocery store. :peace: After our 30 minute stop to the grocery store, back to our hotels.

We unpacked our goodies and prepared for some pool time.

I later met up with Irish and Ernie at Wyncore for a swim. I had seen those beautiful pictures of the pool bar online so when I asked where the pool bar was they said it was at the European Pool. Off we went, me 42 and Irish 61. I didn't care, I wanted a drink. Much to my surprise, it was really nice, quiet, and only one topless chick. We decided at that moment that this was going to be OUR pool destination. I loved the menu, they sold drinks by the pitcher! Yes! :drunk: It's about $52 for a pitcher, but I'm sure we would have been wasted in no time. Then I went to the ladies room:)

    Vegas Wynn Pool.jpg

About two hours later we were dining at GR Steak. I have to say I've never been impressed with Paris, nor Gordon Ramsey (I would like to think I'm better than some reality star :rolleyes2:) but the reviews were great, so I really wanted to try it. Wow. It was really good. Some stuff was kitschy, like the hostess; "We are walking through the tube or subway and being transported to London. And if you look above a the sculpture, this is the outline of Chef Ramsey's hand movements when creating his signature Beef Wellington." Seriously??!! But dinner was great, it was a little loud but great nonetheless!

After dinner we gambled, lost and went to back to the hotel by 1 a.m.

A word about renting a car, we wanted to save money by renting a car and we were correct. We took Koval back and forth to both hotels, and while I was worried about self-parking, the valet told me that all valet was free (excluding tip of course), once we figured that out, we moved with ease, EVERYWHERE! Of course having a convertible was pretty darn cool!

    Day 3, May 13, 2014

Today was a day we were going to grab some lunch out and do some pool time. Pool time, we never got to, but we drove up and down the strip and had lunch at Jack-In-The-Box. Ernie was especially excited for this one! I was unimpressed and after lunch we spent some time watching the planes land. It was still windy, so they were coming in on that north runway. Afterward we stopped at the Vegas sign. Now this was interesting. As we pull up, we see Elvis, waiving to everyone, standing in front of his pink Cadillac. We had someone who was standing there take our picture, he was very honest in saying that he is not employed by anyone, and was reluctant to take our tip, but did so. I have no problem tipping the guy, it was nice of him. Elvis on the other hand was jerk! He offered to pose for a pic, Irish and Ernie did, we tipped him $5, and after that he wanted to sell us a picture of himself for $15. He was really pushy! Not cool!

After some running around we went back to the pool and went to dinner at Andrea's at Encore.

    Vegas Anrdeas.jpg

Andrea's was okay. I finally got the Sinatra Smash! I had waited so long for it and boy was it strong! After dinner we decided to dry the Revolution Lounge. Not cool! It looked like half of it wasn't even open and the one small bar that was open was packed, we left quickly! Next stop was Cosmopolitan for Bond. I was anxious to see the dancers and for it to feel like a real 007 experience. Not really feeling it. The girls looked bored. Nothing felt very Bondy, not that I would know what that was like anyway. I think what really ticked me off the most was that when the server dropped off our check, she also gave us a coupon for Rose, Rabbit, Lie for 50% off ticket, of course I bought our tickets a month ago :grrr: They gambled, I sat at the bar and got drunk. I had lost earlier, that day, so my daily bank was gone. Why oh why am I not throwing dice?? Why do I stick with stupid slots??

Day 4, May 14, 2014 Time for Tea!

Irish had been enthralled with the Fashion Show Mall so each morning she would go to pilates and then over to the mall. God love her! It's not my thing but she likes it! I instead woke up, made my breakfast, in room, sat on the balcony, and enjoyed my morning coffee! Love that Signature! Went downstairs lost ANOTHER $200 and off I went to meet them at the Mandarin Oriental for lunch tea. The whole layout was super cool, you have the hustle and noise from the strip but as soon as you turn the corner to the hotel, you cannot hear a thing! :peace: So peaceful! Up to the 23 floor I went to wait for my friends. Anyone else notice that things on the internet look way cooler than in person?? That's what happened here. I thought the tea room was going to be on it's own, but it's not, it's like a lobby restaurant, well it is really a lobby restaurant. So while you have awesome views of the strip, you also have an awesome view of the front desk. :blah: I did make a reservation so our table had a "reserved" sign on it, but it really wasn't necessary. We were escorted to our couch and coffee table, it was kind of had to eat, you had to really sit up on the edge to eat, but it was still really nice. We ordered the tea with champagne. It was $56.00 per person. Each person got a pot of tea (your choice), scones, finger sandwiches, and mini deserts. They bring everything out at once, and as soon as I saw this I thought there would be no way Ernie would be full from this, but he was! We all were! Stuffed! It was super good! I have a pic of me on FB with the food all set up but I cannot move it to here:( My one gripe was that we did not see the "service charge." So we double tipped! :grrr: No wonder why they were so nice to us by the time we left! I asked if I could see the Mandarin Bar, they told me I could go in. VERY NICE...windows all around! I'll be back for this one!

    Vegas Room View.jpg

After lunch we went back to the pool. Because we had such a big dinner, I didn't have any dinner plans. I thought we could go to the MIX Lounge, catch the sunset and grab some appetizers. I later discovered that the MIX Lounge was closed for a private party and that we would have to go to the Foundation Room but it doesn't open until 10 p.m. As a great Disney planner this does not sit well with me! I expect things to run like clockwork and I had no control over any of this! We got to Mandalay Bay and were hungry, we grabbed the buffet, mainly cause it was fast and at $36.00 it was cheap!! Bottomless champagne and wine, that's a plus! Dinner was ok. I had never been to a buffet in Vegas before, it was about what I expected. I told Irish and Ernie that we had a few hours until the Foundation Room opened up so I would let them know and they could go gamble. We parted ways, I lost $175 on Wizard of Oz slots (stupid)! Went by the Foundation Room to see a line and felt defeated. I looked for Eye Candy and as I approached, hoping to dance, the dance floor wasn't open. COME ON! I can't win!!! So I waited where it looked like people were having fun, the Orchard Lounge. I saw TJ Tyler preform. So fun!! He's about 55 plays for 4 hours, non-stop! And EVERYONE sings and dances! No cover, no line, no crap! I texted Irish and Ernie, took a seat and ordered some purple drink X 3. My night was just beginning!
