I decided to book a trip in a couple weeks for my bday. We have never stayed at the Delano but everything looks great so wife is excited. Anything I should know before I check in?

I love the Delano and usually get my MB comp upgraded to Delano. The rooms are lovely with the new remodel. Take advantage of the spa and you should get discounts. Ask for a "view of the pool".. it's far away but I believe when we have stayed on that side it's quieter at night. Check out the Foundation Room at Sunset for fabulous views. The Foundation Room is atop Mandalay Bay but you may be given access for the asking being a guest. I have used myVEGAS rewards, but you can go up there if you have dinner reservations. Currently Mix, (on top of Delano) is closed for renovations, or I would suggest going up there. You will have to fight the crowds at night a little since you walk right past the Michael Jackson ONE show to access Delano elevators, but you will figure out when to avoid the shows. You will also need to walk through the entire casino to get to the pool, but that'll take an extra 5 minutes. Also Delano has their own private pool area reserved for Delano guests, which is ok, but I prefer the big/main pool at Mandalay Bay, myself. Many dining/drinks choices at MB. Try Aerole for Happy Hour... actually most of the high end restaurants have decent happy hour menus and the food is excellent to check that out. Have fun and enjoy!

I'm bummed out that Mix is closed for Reno, drinking cocktails up there and watching the sun set over the strip is a ritual of mine, I'll give the Foundation Room a try this time.

I've never stayed at the Delano but I hit the casino every trip, and the Michael Jackson ONE show is pretty damn good even if you don't really consider yourself a fan.

Mix is closed still ? :(

Love foundation room - as a guest of MB and THEHotel we never had a problem getting into it. It's definitely a good walk from THEHotel / Delano (suppose I should stop calling it THEHotel) to MB's pool.

Only thing I didn't like about Delano was the velet area was in the parking ramp / garage - just doesn't have that "vegas feel" as MB or any of the other properties do when you pull up and are greeted by an attendant. And there isn't (wasn't) much at Delano - the rooms were nice even before the remodeling, but not much choice of things to do at Delano - we always went to MB (or elsewhere) - Which is to be assumed I guess, it's more of just a hotel / tower of suites then an actual property with stuff to do on it's own.

My point is I guess, if you want a nice room / suite - Delano is great, but you'll have to go elsewhere for restaurants, gambling, etc...

... When did Delano get it's on own pool? When it was THEHotel, it didn't have one? (or we didn't know about it?) We always went to MB pool when we stayed there.

Delano's pool is an existing pool which was previously part of the MB pool complex (I think it was called the West Lagoon pool, if my 55 year old memory is correct).

Yes, mIX was still closed when we were at Delano 5 days ago.

Delano is not a casino resort - it's a boutique hotel which occupies one tower on the MB property. Unless one has mobility issues, it isn't a big deal to walk through the Mandalay Bay casino and from there you have many restaurants within a 5 minute walk.

As said, it is just a hotel wing. It is part of the MB complex.

I had stayed at TheHotel previously and enjoyed it, but the Delano room I stayed in was really nice. A step below Wynn/Encore but very nice.

Thanks for the replies! We stayed at MB a few months ago so were familiar with it. Rooms looked great and I had a one night free offer so I booked there. Anyone tried the 20 trick here? Guess I can read that section too but if you have gone recently and tried I'm curious if it would work.

The $20 trick is not worth it IME, you will only get and upgrade to the Panoramic suite, not the 2 Bedroom or Penthouse, as they call it which while bigger by a few feet actually feels smaller due to the layout of the room. Little tip on getting to MB restaurants cut through the parking garage to the MB entrance that take you right in by LIGHT, Lupo and Red Square. Definitely try Franklin as well, they have great cask cocktails and the bartenders there are all really great guys.

Did that used to be "The Bar" when it was The Hotel?

Della's Kitchen had best chicken and waffles I've ever had. I"d highly recommend it for breakfast/brunch. And the service was amazing. Waiter remembered us from one day to the next, it used to be TheCafe.

Della's is pretty solid with some nice healthier options. They serve breakfast until they close at 2. I just wished they stayed open a bit later.
