    My Trip Report

This trip I stayed at Delano and played in the Mandalay Millions slot tournament. Then I spent one night at the Wynn. I had never been to the Wynn before this trip.

Delano - I had a panoramic suite. Normally I have a view of the airport from one window and the strip from the other. I was on the other "wing" of the hotel this trip and had a view of the strip from a different angle and a view of the mountains. I also could see the Luxor pools and the new NYNY stadium. They are really building the stadium fast! I still love Delano. Great employees and super comfy beds.

Gambling highlights - first slot machine, first 10 minutes in the casino, first $200 in, within a few pulls, hit this:

Great start to the trip. Also had this buffalo hit later in the trip:

Saturday morning I had a slot hit for $900. Cashed in the TITO and went to explore the slots at Aria. I really liked Aria's slot selection. I could see myself staying there one day.

Sunday morning I had a slot hit for $1000.00. Cashed in that TITO and added the money to my Wynn bankroll.

I triggered the Cleo II bonus twice this trip. Both bonuses sucked. Both were under $200. Both times I was expecting a hand pay. Obviously my expectations were unrealistic. lol.

As usual, I played 3CP, Crazy 4, and LIR. Had a few losing sessions and a few winning ones. I do, however, now have a (sucker) bonus bet horror story. I was playing 3CP with my favorite MB dealer. I was the only person at the table. I was down to my last six red chips. I played two on each bet but did not have one for the 6 card bonus bet which I always play. Not this time. (Can you see where this is going?). Dealer deals me a straight flush, 6,7,8 of diamonds. Unbelievably, the dealer gets three 8s. I, of course, get the 40 to 1 payout on the SF but would have had an additional 25 to 1 payout had I made the bonus bet (4OK). Both the dealer and I were shocked at the cards and horrified by the lack of a bonus bet. We agreed to never speak of it again. Lol.

As usual my THEO for the MLife portion of my trip came out to almost exactly - tier credits earned/33.

Slot tournament - the tournament consisted of 4, 15 minute rounds (2 Friday, 2 Saturday) of intense slot button smashing. It was pretty silly, but something to do. Below is a picture of the tournament area and a picture of my first machine. Notice the number of the machine. Could this be an omen for things to come?

Not. I ended up in the middle of the pack. I won $150 in free play. Turned that into about $250 cash. Saturday night there was an awards reception. Free drinks and food. A band. It was nice. Overall the best part of the tournament was meeting a lot of very nice people. I took pictures at the reception but they're blurry. One to many Dos Equis I guess.

Food - dinner at MB buffet - why do I continually eat there? It is Meh at best. The desserts just keeps getting worse and worse. My only excuse is that it was my first night there. I was exhausted and starving.

Hersey store - Friday morning I felt the need to head to the Hersey's store. Got these beauties:

Honestly, the cookie was stale. Not worth the money. Got tossed in the garbage. The other things were outstanding.

Citizens at MB - I had breakfast here twice. It was excellent. I'm not a pancake person but decided to try them. They were delish. Everything was really good. Citizens has a large to go counter with donuts, sandwiches, and salads also. Great, fast service.

Hussong's Cantina - based on someone else's trip report (can't remember who) I decided to give this a go. It was outstanding. I had the grilled corn appetizer and prime rib tacos. Service was fine but less than attentive. I will return here.

Raffles Cafe - had lunch here. I was in the mood for steak and knew I wouldn't get to a proper steak place this trip so I ordered the flat iron steak and Parmesan fries. I ordered the steak medium. It came way to rare. (Has anyone noticed this appears to be a trend? Medium seems to mean rare these days as this continually happens to me. I guess I'll have to start ordering medium well to get medium.) Anyway, I didn't have time to send it back and make my slot tournament time so I ate the edges. The seasoning on the steak was excellent. The fries were cold. This meal was not a win. Shame on me for expecting good steak at a cafe.

    One night at the Wynn-

I decided this trip to add a day and stay some where I'd never been before. Originally I was going to stay downtown but I decided to wait for that until a future trip with DH. I decided to try the Wynn. I'd never even been inside the place. I booked a standard room through their website. $129.00 plus tax and resort fees.

I left Delano at about 11 am. Grabbed a cab. Had a super driver. When we arrived at the Wynn the bell man heard me thank the cab driver. The bell man commented that it was rare to have someone get out of a cab and be happy with the service. Such a shame. I really wish Las Vegas would fix the cab problem.

I was rather stunned when I walked into the Wynn. It really is beautiful! My room was ready so I headed up. I walked in and was again stunned but this time by how small the room was. Then I remember that this wasn't a comp. I had booked the smallest room on purpose, as I was paying. The room was very clean. The bathroom was very large. I particularly liked the big closet. The bed was comfy but nowhere close to the comfiness of the beds at Delano. I had a view of treasure island. I can report that the new CVS in front of TI is just sad. TI now looks like a hotel in any other city. I have room pictures I can post if anyone is interested in seeing what the smallest room at the Wynn looks like.

I headed to the casino and signed up for a Red Card. Wandered around a bit and then I saw it! My all time favorite slot machine which I've only previously ever seen at Bellagio - an multi denomination IGT Cascading 7s! This machine has always been like an ATM for me. I got a lot of good play from on this machine and on several others over the next few hours.

All in all I found lots of slots I liked and also played 3CP and Crazy 4 Poker. I gambled much more than I thought I would - gee, what a surprise (not). I was very impressed by how clean the casino was. As a result of my gambling I now have a Wynn host. My room and food were comped.

I spent some time wandering around both Wynn and Encore. Truly spectacular properties. I took a picture of Popeye for DH. He would not believe me when I told him what Steve Wynn paid for it. I ate at the buffet. It was better than most I've had and had some pretty unique dishes. I particularly like the cheddar bratwurst. We just don't get good bratwurst here in South Carolina.

I can see myself staying again at the Wynn but just for one or two nights per trip. The slot floor is pretty small and I played everything I wanted to play during my short time there. I think I would get bored during an extended trip as I like to play where I stay. I would, however, like to see the shows there and try some of the restaurants so I may add a night or two at Wynn to my next few trips. I'm very glad that I finally have seen the place. Overall it was a great day/night and I'm glad I gave it a try.

That's all. Next trip is with my Vegas virgin adult sons and DIL. Thanks for reading. I sure enjoy re-living my Vegas trips by writing trip reports. Kudos to those of you who do your trip reporting live. I never could! Let me know if you have any questions.

The Buffalo hit wasn't even during a bonus round. I was shocked that a regular line hit could generate that kind of money. Love those Stampede machines!

Interesting that you commented on the Wynn slot floor being "small".

BTW, you didn't mention if you made it over to Encore.

If you had any kind of play on your Red Card, you will probably be getting a comp invite to the Wynn soon.

    JMHO.

I guess I meant small in comparison to where I usually play - MB or MGM. I really liked the selection of slot machines at Wynn. I did use a Red Card so we'll see what invites I get. I'm looking forward to seeing what my amount of play generates for future offers.

Great trip report and nice hits! I love seeing VMBers getting those handpay jackpots.

You'll for sure get a comp offer from the Wynn. I was there for a few hours in January and put a measly 500 points on my card (I really wanted to try daily slot tournament - you have to put at least 500 points on your card that day to qualify). My first ever offer from the Wynn came in a few weeks ago and they comped 2 nights or 3 nights and $150 or $225 Freeplay, depending on which month this summer. Not bad! Granted, these are for Sunday thru Thursday only, but I'll take it!
