Not too much talk about the Delano hotel around here.
It's slated to open on the strip in less than 5 months.

I booked an early offer for THEHotel for an early January 2014 stay.
Yeah it's early to book 5 months out but the offer is too good to pass on!
I was told (by Mandalay Bay VIP services) that THEHotel will officially transform into DELANO the first week of January 2014. The construction and renovations will take place for a 3 week block during December. THEHotel will still be open in limited capacity during "THEConstruction"

I'm looking forward to staying in a new hotel (sort of new I guess) with all new decor and freshly renovated rooms inside the body of what we have considered our home base property for many years.
However, I have no clue what the Delano is all about and how this Vegas location will look. I have seen photos/video of the Miami location and it looks horrid with all the bright white. The rooms look like one of those mental wards with the white padded walls. Although I did read some old press release saying that each Delano location is different and fits in with it's local surroundings.

So at this point I'm just wondering about any other info that may be out there.. Any renditions, sketches, hotel info out there? I have only seen very little info online. THEHotel could not say anything about the rooms or if room types were changing.

What are your own thoughts on Delano?
Any info or insight is good to hear...

Been reading some about this recently ... NOT much info out there about what any of the renovation is going to look like. Being kept under wraps. And they're going to do this incredibly fast. Will be really interesting. I'll miss THEHotel. But new thing should be exciting.

I truly don't understand why the consensus on this board is that the transformation to the Delano will be a negative. I am looking forward to it, as the Delano in Miami Beach is one of the iconic hotels of the US and I hve great memories there. The renovated rooms in THEhotel should be great, and I will plan on staying there the month it opens--after it is completely open and all construction is complete. I don't see how that can happen in 3 weeks.

imo, they should only renovate the name of the place and the televisions.

I like everything else about the rooms - the beds, furniture, second bathroom, living space, even the carpet. Maybe if they embedded the closets into the dividing wall it would save some space, but I think its fine as is.

I even like the THE imprints on the packages of soap, and the toilet paper stickers (it says THE tp, if I recall correctly).

THEHotel is great. But I think the lack of a more open floor plan in the THEHotel hurt them vis-a-vis Aria, Wynn, even Vdara. But it's a great hotel. Hopefully the transformation will be good ...

My biggest question is whether they will still have pet rooms. TheHotel is the only pet friendly MLife hotel currently. I like to split my time between CET and MLife.

Ahh, good to know. Thanks for the info. I wonder if that's a new change? I remember looking into the City Center properties when I was investigating our options and didn't find anybody who was pet friendly.

However it looks like I'd be paying a pretty penny for that. When I log into my MLife account I don't have any rates there that aren't a good bit more than those properties I have offers or comps at. I wonder what it would take to get comp offers there. Also it appears that there is a $50 per night pet fee (similar to TheHotel) but also and additional non-refundable $75 cleaning fee on top.

Yes, Vdara recently sent out a notice that they welcome pets. I think it was back in August.
