Although I have been to vegas many times, I never really play for comps but I do play alot. I have read on hear about not gambling at properties during part of a day unless you are going to spend the time/money that you need to complete a day. Not sure if I am explaining this correctly or not. Anyway - here is my question/concern. We are going for 5 days but will be gone for a day and 1/2 trip to Zion in the middle of the time (will not be checking out of our hotel in vegas). So we will leave around noon and return early evening the next day. I stay at CET as they have always comped my rooms upfront even though I don't go every year and am a low roller. I don't want to lose that little benefit so should I refrain from playing at a CET property that morning that we take off. I think I will get plenty of play time on the return day as I like to play in the evenings. So my question is what is a day in vegas for this purpose? Does it start at midnight? Hope my question makes sense. Thanks in advance.

I can never remember if the CET day starts at 5:00am or 6:00am, someone else will clarify.

In any case, it's not important that you play every day, it's that you play enough in total over the course of your stay.

From the majority of information about CET, it's beneficial to not have any redemption of Rewards Credits or gambling activity occur on getaway day (meaning the day you check out). So nothing after 5:00 or 6:00am on the day you leave at the end of your stay.

Gambling day starts between 4-6 am at CET casinos, maybe somebody else can give you the specific time in LV that the gambling day starts. To me the more unanswered question is does CET count a comp night as a "gaming activity", so in your example even if you never gamble during your 5 days would CET still count 5 days against your ADT.

In Las Vegas, the gaming day is 6am - 6am. I had this discussion with my host recently. If you are staying 5 nights on a comp, you will have 6 gaming days. Even if you don't play, use reward credits etc, check out day will count as a gaming day, since the 5th night was comped. I have also read posts saying that if they arrive late(11pm), they won't use their card to play. It will still be a gaming day since they have taken a comp room for the night.
I don’t know if this is a policy change. A previous host had told me not to play with my card on check out day since I would leave the hotel early in the morning.
So, for the OP, whatever play you have will be divided by 6 to calculate your ADT.

If they did change it so check out day always counts in ADT, it would make things easier for everybody.

Thanks for the info. As the policy you describe would be beneficial to the casino and harmful to the gambler, it doesn't surprise me that the change was make. Sort of like how free play no longer earns you tier credits at most casinos.

Play how you want to play. Comps at CET are pretty easy, and pretty easy in large part because the room rates are low anyhow. Unless you are getting weekend comps at the nicer properties with resort fees comped, you are very unlikely to kill your rating playing part of a day, especially part of a day where you are already staying there.

Even if it would marginally change your comps, it would probably not do so with a dollar value worth planning your trip around.
