    I'm looking for Cabot's ( semi ) Cedar -
Called around.........found only one place that had it.
    Great !
I walk into the place 2 weekends later + the chick / clerk says -
"We stopped carrying it a year ago....we were bought by Pittsburgh Paint ...
    try our brand !"
    :grrr:
I didn't bother to argue - but how'd you make THAT mistake ?.....Bait + switch ?...or just lie ?
    there's something about Cabot's Stain + me ?
It keeps hiding from me !
And then, I just end up going to Home Depot because suddenly,
I have an afternoon to stain.....and I NEED IT, NOW !
........and of course, I thought it was thee WORST looking stain :rolleyes2: !
    It was FUGLY !
I remarked for 2 years how damn ugly it was !
    *
So, now i'm on the Internet trying to find somewhere close by, who stocks Cabot's ?

Any stain brand you like ?.....I might just grab something "handy" ?
    It's getting stupid.......Cabot's + me just can't come together !:rolleyes2:

I live in the Seattle area and we have a local paint place named Daly's............their brand products are amazing and the staff is over the top qualified, they can mix a color in to pretty much any hue you want also.

Downside is the cost is at least 10% more, which I gladly pay for the expertise behind the counter, and if you want the stain custom mixed to color the wait can be a week.

Maybe there is a local small paint company near you like that, (that doesn't do the bait and switch) sometimes those guys are more up to date on new products than the big stores. Cabot is good stuff too though........my .02 is steer clear of Behr.

I've tried various stains and have settled on Flood Deck Stain.
Use to use Thompson's but it got to where I had to use it twice a year, spring and fall.
Behr was recommended one year, as stated above, it sucks!
Switched to the Flood, and have gotten 2-3 years per application. My deck gets sun all day long, all year round and it has held up well.

We built our beautiful deck with Red Wood, we used Olympic Maximum this time around. We like it.

Cwf flood clear is the longest lasting stain I've ever used. I built a deck for my mom and it wasn't direct sun, but it looked good for five years.

Checked my deck closer - yesterday.........I gotta replace some floor boards.

I can vouch for Olympic Maximum solid stain, and cedar stain. Had a bad hail storm two years ago right after staining, and had to touch up the deck railings ( no fault of the stain), but it has since, survived two minnesota winters, and looks just as good as when I applied it. Used the cedar stain on the hot tub, and it has lasted 3 yrs and counting.
