Decent offer from The D?

We made our first visit downtown and focused most of our play at The D. No real reason we hung out there except we play VP mostly and heard about the long bar, vintage slots and Sigma Derby (it was down during our visit -) from this forum. We had fun, only played for a few hours on my card, ate at the Grille (respectable prime rib at a great price).

Anyway, this resulted in a mailed offer I received the other day for 3 free nights, $30 free play, $30 match play, and 2-1 show tickets. Sounds like a decent offer and we're considering it. Wife's not sure about staying downtown but I'm all for it...hey it's free and if we can use it on a weekend and combine with a couple weeknights on the strip, might be ok...

A couple questions though - the offer is only good through August... Next trip may not happen until September... Do you think I'll get another offer or was this a one time teaser offer? How are the rooms at the D? I thought I heard they were all renovated a few years back?

    Thanks for any advice!

You will get another offer. The D and Golden Gate send bi-monthly mailers, but fortunately, they offset them by a month.

So you have the July/August offer from the D, and Golden Gate will send June/July mailing.

This only applies if you play at both places.

Note that future offers will be based on play.

I was getting $200FP, $300 FB, and 4 nights at the D every month until my last mailer. I had a "short trip" where I didn't make my play and my offers were decreased.

That's about normal with lower play. I'm always getting that offer in the mail. And, that's where I'm staying on my last trip.

As for the rooms, I like the ones at The D better than the ones at Golden Gate. They're better laid out, and more up to date. They're not as large as strip rooms, but about the size of some of the older casinos I would say.

I would say you were lucky to get the suite. However, July and August are very slow in Las Vegas especially downtown. I have always found the D to be much less generous with comps than the GG (although the same company)

Weird, I have the opposite. I normally get $25 in food and FP from The D, but only $15 in food, and $10-$15 from GG. But, both I get 3 nights whenever. No suites so far.

Posting this here since it's about The D and I didn't want to start a new thread. Thinking of going late November. Currently getting 3 free nights a month (in a regular rooms), $30 in food, $30 in slot play and a couple $25 match plays. If I booked this, would I get a discount if I wanted to upgrade to a d suite?

It really depends on the day that your booking and whether or not they expect to need it. If you have a host, I would check with them first.

I don't have a host. Last trip was the first time I've ever really played there. 30 minutes or less of slots, an hour or 2 of video poker and 1-2 hours of $25 BJ so I'm not host level. I'll call and ask but wanted to see if anyone had any experience. Thanks for the response.
