    My Trip Report

We flew with Alaska and it was a pretty turbulent flight the drink cart got to our row then they were seated for the rest of the flight. We considered it our first win for the trip

Flight was on time despite the turbulence, we grabbed our golf clubs and headed for the shuttle to pick up our car. We rented a SUV from Thrifty for $172.00 for the week. Arrived at Thrifty and our car was in a bay waiting for us so we inspected it and off we went.

When we got to M Resort our room was ready and it was a smooth check-in. Our friends J and N from Scotland arrived shortly after we were settled into our room. We met them in the casino and the four of us got our gamble on. Great deal at M Resort if you earned 450 slot points Monday-Thursday (750 on weekends) you get a free dinner buffet, so DH and I took advantage of that during our stay. The slots were very kind to us at M Resort and we barely touched 2 full days budget in the three days we stayed. My friend J and I were playing the Rolling Stones video slot and a fellow came by and gave us t-shirts for playing; I said to the fellow “if I lose my shirt gambling I now will have one to wear home”. One observation is we found the cocktail service was very hit and miss during our stay and it really depended on where you were sitting. The best area, we found, to get good service was to be in front of the buffet, if you were near Babycakes you could have passed out from dehydration :faint:. Before we checked out I contacted the host that booked our stay and she comped all 3 nights and all charges to the room.

Friday we moved to the Luxor for the next 4 nights, I was in on my birthday offer (host comped the 4th night up front too) and we had our hosts birthday party to attend on the Saturday. We didn't spend anytime at the Luxor Friday as we were too busy so didn't get a chance to gamble there until Saturday. Saturday night was our host’s birthday party and it was a Disco party with 70’s food and a costume and dance contest with winners receiving FP. They had 3 Fantasy cast members dressed in 70’s garb to do the judging and get the dance party started. DH was ogling the Fantasy girls as they had short shorts on, when I noticed I told him he would be sleeping in the hallway if he didn't get his eyes back in his head :evillaugh It was a great evening, we had a ton of fun. Gambling low down for the Luxor is it was great for the first 3 days, we played on Fridays budget until the Monday! We don’t want to talk about Monday we got hit badly and neither of us could get anything going it was like the slot machines were starving, we started our losses at the Excalibur and then continued them between Luxor and MandalayBay. I was given $675 FP and was only able to turn it into $710 on $5 VP which was ok, but I’ve done better in the past with my FP.

Sonya a huge thank you for the VMB meet up at Cosmo, we had were able to get over and meet others and had a fabulous time! I hope to get a chance to meet up with everyone again someday if it works out. We wore our VMB wristbands most of the weekend and they didn’t prove to be unlucky for us.

We saw Zarkana compliments of MyVegas, DH and I both play MyVegas and got 2 tickets so we could take our friends. I enjoyed as did J, DH and N didn’t care for the show and were so glad when it was over.

    Gambling overall consensus:
If we would have stopped Sunday night we would have come home with at least 2 days bankroll, but what degenerate does that?

    Food notes:
M Resort buffet, a great value especially when you gamble enough to get it for free and get to keep the points accrued.
RM Seafood: We enjoyed the food, disliked the noise and ambience.
Tender: We have yet to be disappointed and really enjoy the ambience and the servers are very attentive.

    Golf:
Tuscanny : I enjoyed this course as our starter course in Vegas as we hadn’t golfed in over a month and I was really hung over. Shot 89 so was very proud of myself. It’s an easy course, wide open and seemed everything funneled to the middle of the fairway.

Concord at Revere: Golfed with a fellow that calls himself Always Greatful, he was a great character and I would love to golf with him again. The greens were extremely fast and the course was in good shape. I couldn’t hit a par 3 to save my life and shot 96 from the whites.

Rio Secco: Great course, I would go back in a heartbeat! So many things I like about the course, I found it challenging yet easy, is that even possible? On the million dollar hole I told DH not to pay for me as I have issues hitting greens on par 3’s. He did pay and I did hit the green  I had a very memorable round shooting 90.

Rhodes Ranch: This course funnels to the middle on the fairways which are wide, so if you miss you can still have a good lie in the fairway. The greens were slow, it seemed they hadn’t cut them or something. The fellow we played with was playing from the tips and hubs joined him so I played from the whites with the fellow’s dad.

Pauite Wolf: We got paired up with a father/son and they were fabulous to golf with, the dad is a +2 and played from the tips shot a 68 with a double on 9… Only in my dreams! Can I say I really dislike Pete Dye? When I went into a trap my ball hit a rake almost every time making it stop near the edge, it was frustrating! The son loved shooting distances for us despite the carts having GPS so we let him as it kept him busy; very nice boy with great golf etiquette. I did hit the island green with a great kick from the rocks onto the green leaving me with a 7ft putt for birdie; which, I missed but I did make par. Shot 97 and that was a decent score considering how much trouble I got myself into.

    Good report.

My wife and I love the m, but since they changed their comps for Canadians, we haven't been back. We have received 3 free nights for 2 rooms, $300rfb, and $200 fp, but now its only casino rate. Its my favorite off strip property, though.

My friend discovered the Paiute beer special - a 6 pack for $15. That seems to help. I love all 3 courses out there, maybe because I drop where I want to make my round less stressful!

BiGP – I have tried numerous items Tender's menu and have yet to be disappointed, but I’m not a “foodie” per se.

Tringlomane – the million dollar hole is played on Hole 7 (par 3) cost is $20 if you dare to try and qualify for the hole in one finals. If you ace it you qualify for a spot in the finals, if you miss the green you get a $20 voucher to the pro shop and if you hit the green they double the value of the voucher.

North East J – we are Canadian and I called to speak with a host prior to this trip and the host I spoke with comped us 2 nights up front; it’s been 3 years or so since we have stayed there and thought that was a great deal. Thank you for the info on the Paiute beer special, next trip we will take them up on that.

Tree DA – What I can remember of the 70’s food on the menu was crab louie, meatballs, chicken kiev, fondue and jello. The food wasn’t spectacular but was a throwback to when I was young.

So you're guaranteed a $20 voucher to the pro shop for paying $20 plus more if you hit the green or ace it? That's not a bad deal unless the pro shop is ridiculous in price.

Really? Wow. I called them in August for a trip week after Labour Day and they quoted me casino rate. In hindsight they would have probably back end comped me because my firend and I played a lot, but I didn't want to chance it. I am going with the wife in May and might have to call them up again.

    Thanks for the info!
