    My Trip Report

Here's a quick TR for Dec. 2-4. Kind of last minute, and short, but it was fun.

    Flights and Transportation:
Both were quick and uneventful. Flew America West because it had the best price. Coming back, the wife and I had a row to ourselves, it was nice, but I still didn’t sleep. I can’t sleep on plans for some reason. Rented a car through Priceline for $10 a day, 52 total after taxes, fees, etc. Ended up with a Chevy Cobalt. Not much pep, but it went from point A to point B just fine.

    Hotel:
Originally we had Excalibur booked, then switched to Excalibur 1 night and TI 1 night booked, then switched to Monte Carlo 1 night, and TI 1 night. Then saw Aladdin on Orbitz 3 days before we left for 176 total for both nights. Switched to that because of location and it was less expensive than all of the others before.

Check-in was super easy. Their check-in desk is awesome looking. No upgrades for free, so we took what we had. Nice view of nothing. We weren’t planning on spending a lot of time in there anyways. The room was very nice. King bed, non-smoking. Big bathroom with tub and shower separate. The is construction in the Aladdin, but nothing too bad. Not too noisy or confusing.

    Gambling:
Went downtown 1st and lost a bunch at El Cortez on BJ and Pai Gow. Broke even at Golden Nugget and Fremont. On the strip we played mostly $10 dollar Pai Gow. Aladdin always had 1, sometimes 2 $10 dollar Pai Gow tables. Barbary Coast always had $10 dollar tables and sometimes $5 dollar tables for Pai Gow. Also played a little $5 dollar BJ and $5 3 card poker at Barbary. Played slots at Bellagio and watched football. Oh yeah, went 3 for 3 on my football bets. Hit the OU/Nebraska game, took that profit and put half on Pitt/someone (can’t remember) and half on Texans/Raiders. Won both. Woohoo, that helped quite a bit. Highlights of gambling were the wife hitting a royal on Pai Gow with the bonus bet up and the sports betting. Those both helped a lot. Played the hold em table game at Osheas 2 times and took 150 bucks profit total on that. Fun game. PaiGow at IP a few times, and lost 100 once and broke even once.

Played poker at Aladdin (3-6) and Flamingo (2-4). Lost 100 bucks both times. At Aladdin, I was insanely drunk and the 100 bucks lasted me about 3 hours. At Flamingo I just got smoked. Chased too many, when I hit, someone would hit harder. I played terrible. One thing I noticed was that at for example a 2-4 game, the percentage of money taken off the table is insane. Let’s say there’s 25 hands an hour, 4 bucks dropped for rake and 1 thrown to the dealer for tip. That’s 125 bucks per hour taken off the table, and at such small stakes, that seems like a huge percentage, so is it possible to win over the long run?? Just food for thought.

    Food:
We had In and Out Burger 2 times. I love it. Barbary Coast breakfast once (some of which I lost in trash cans between BC and Aladdin. Pizza in Osheas once, Tacone in Aladdin shops once (expensive, not worth it, but decent food), Breakfast in Aladdin shops once at some café, and other stuff I can’t remember.

    Final Thoughts:
-I drank too much the first day. I was too hung over day 2 to do anything before 1 or so, except eat. I watched the early NFL games in the room.
-Rodeo was going on so lots of wranglers, etc. A lot of casino dealers were dressed up also. Most casinos has country music going, except Aladdin, they had mostly top-40 stuff.
-Wife’s royal on Pai Gow (150-1) and my football bets kept the gambling loses to a minimum.
-Food and gambling combined cost about negative $260 total.

Thanks for writing up your TR! I love reading about everyone's times in Vegas.

I am laughing at myself about Aladdin though. I was in there on Saturday and the casino construction had me totally lost. Couldn't find the cashier, couldn't find the restrooms (there was no sign). Maybe I was too sober? The casino changeover to Planet Hollywood is looking really sharp though!! I think I'm going to like it.
