    Trips to Las Vegas:
    4
Hello. I've booked my next trip to Vegas in December. My wife can't join me this time, so it'll be a solo trip. I usually stay at Quad because I can usually get all nights comped. However, I can get fully comped at Quad, Harrah's, Flamingo, and Bally's.

I've already booked Bally's, but now I'm wondering about trying Harrah's or Flamingo. Here are some key things/questions that might help you make a suggestion for me:

    1. Stayed at Quad about 6 times so far.
    2. Stayed at Bally's last winter and liked the atmosphere.
    3. Stayed at Flamingo and Harrah's once each (at least three years ago).
    4. I gamble mainly at Bally's, Harrah's Quad, Flamingo, and maybe a bit at Paris and PHo.
    5. Does Flamingo still have the gross smell (I was there in August with my wife and it was a bit stinky at times)
    6. I don't spend much time in the room.....pretty much shower and sleep.
    7. I like to casino hop the east side of the strip between Harrah's and Paris.
    8. The few dollars difference in resort fees between the joints aren't a concern.

I know these are pretty vague point :), but any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you!

What room types are you considering at each? My choice would be Flamingo (we pretty much always stay there) because of location central to all the others and quick access to the strip, but we always stay in a GO room with a view. Not sure how to FAB rooms stack up against the other properties, but you also said you don't care much about the room itself.

Flamingo is central, has a food court, has the Margaritaville casino (cute chicks in bikinis), has some good bars, has easy access to the strip...

I second the vote for the flamingo....for all of the stated reasons....

I'm just considering the most basic, non-smoking room available. After thinking about it more this pm, I'm considering making a switch to Flamingo. Any other input is much appreciated. Thanks to all.

I say Bally's. Great Sportsbook, closer walk to Ellis Island, great late night cheap eats at the Taco joint, easy walk to PH via Paris, easy jaunt to Cosmo, and last but not least, no fear of weird smells which the odor sometimes hover between tanning lotion and puke.

Out of these four, I would suggest Ballys. That's pretty much where we have stayed for years although this last trip, I started to notice how really run down things are getting, elevators, carpet, vp machines at Sullys. But even with that said, I'd still go back there over ANY CET property.

I agree with Bally's. Staff is always great and it is the best location on the strip....convenient to many nice casinos. Can't imagine staying anywhere but Paris or Bally's. Hope you have a great time no matter where you stay. :)

I would have picked Bally's as well. And based on where you like to gamble you are right in the middle.

I've stayed at 3 of the 4 and will be staying at the 4th (Bally's) this coming trip, after spending 2 nights DT. Obvious low rollers that we are since we get free room comps at these CET locations. I know what you mean about the smell at Flamingo. Just don't like the smell of that place, but I didn't mind the room itself.

So, I am going out on a limb just saying' Bally's as a first choice because I know they have had the most recent remodel. Plus, a little closer to the south strip to visit other casinos.

Second choice would be Harrah's as I love the location and easy access to the bus systems heading either direction, plus it's close proximity to the Quad, where we like to play.

I would rank Flamingo 3rd, mainly because of the smell (nauseating :vomit:) and have had some cleanliness issues in the room and hallways.

Lastly, would be the Quad. We've stayed there 3 or 4 times and probably won't again unless they remodel. Can't beat it for location, gambling, and pretty darn good CW service. :drunk:

I myself have a solo trip 12/20-12/23 and am staying at Flamingo. When I booked I was determining between Flamingo and Bally's and went with Flamingo as I have a slight preference to their location, but really I felt I was splitting hairs. I really couldn't sway you from one to the other. Regardless, have a great trip!

I too have the same question. I usually stay at Harrah's because of its close proximity to the buck Michelob's. Secondly, I choose Flamingo. This time (Next month) I have chosen Bally's because it is the only one of the three that I have not stayed at. Looks like Bally's is winning the vote  Anybody know if there are twenty four hour dollar beers near Bally's?

Only one I have not stayed at is Flamingo. Of the other 3 I am partial to Harrah's as we stayed there for our last 2 trips.

I would go with Ballys if I were you. Especially if you just ask for an upgrade to the newly renovated Jubilee (south) tower...$20 trick ALWAYS works at ballys.

Bally's for sure. That's my go-to Vegas "home" for guys trips, for the reasons cited by Captain Ron. It's a much-debated point, but I do think it's a couple of notches above Flamingo. I walked through the Dirty Bird in July and five minutes were enough for me.

And to stlrocker: across the street from Bally's at Stage Door you can get $2.50 hotdog/beer combos (or, I think, $1 Michelob). And the hotdogs are good--Nathan's Famous!

Stayed at three of the four you listed - I'd either go with Harrah's or Ballys. I enjoy Harrah's because of the location and decent rates you can get this time of the year. We normally go right before Christmas and can get some very good deals on rooms. I prefer the location of Harrah's to Ballys, however, it is not much of a contest if you are booking a basic room - go with Ballys.

If you want a suite (which if you're solo, probably not) - I'd at least check out Harrah's right now, as I got some really good rates for next month with the TR discount for a petite suite (hopefully can get upgraded to M or Exec.)

Can you tell me more about yours thoughts on the Ballys sportsbook. Headed to vegas today until Tuesday and was thinking about going to Ballys mostly bc its not as popular(maybe it is) as other sportsbooks. We are staying at the Flamingo and want to bet the 1pm EST NFL games.

The best thing going for it is the size. It is big for a mid-level property. I have never found it over crowded and drink service has always been just fine. Nice little VP bar adjacent, good cheap eats nearby.

I was pretty much sold mostly bc of the close food court, the non-business, and bar/VP. Are drinks comped or are tickets passed out due to your met amounts?

I'm going to say Harrahs, though Flamingo would be a great pick as well. Both have great locations and atmosphere, though I like Harrahs a little more as it's directly across the street from the Mirage, which I always enjoy, and it's a short walk to Casino Royale, Flamingo and Margaritaville.

THey do pass out the tix w the bets. Cocktail waitresses walk around too, I have had them ask for the tix and also just had them ask what drink you wanted if they see betting slips out.
