    My Trip Report

Hey all, I always keep meaning to post a TR, but I find the details are sometimes a little fuzzy. So, since I have a BlackBerry, I will post a TR in increments as the action unfolds!

So, I get to YYC (Calgary International) at about a quarter to 4 in the morning (for my 6:35am flight). I'm still a little tipsy at this point, cuz I had just left my office Christmas party, so needless to say, I had not slept a wink. Flight was uneventful, and arrived at McCarran right on time. Got a cab to THEhotel, and proceeded to check-in. I tried for an upgrade to a V-suite, but no luck. The front desk clerk did give me a strip view though, which was nice. Played a little VP (even though I had STILL not slept, lol)......ended a little bit up. Went up to my room and crashed at about 1 pm.

I woke up at about 3:30, and went to the BathHouse Spa at THEhotel. The place is AMAZING! Truly a Heaven on Earth. Then off to Luxor where I had their dinner buffet (I don't recommend it), and played some hold 'em for a few hours. I had free passes for Forty Deuce, so I figured I'd have a look-see. It's smaller than I expected, but a pretty cool layout. And the burlesque shows were great......sexy, but classy at the same time. Then I wandered the strip casino hopping until about 4am, then cabbed it back and crashed for the night.

Only thing better than an up to the minute TR would be one of those helmut cams like on Amazing Race where we can watch as it all happens..

Woke up at 10 this morning, and then went back to the spa. Then, back to my room to grab my bags and check-out. Left my bags will the bellman so I can pick 'em up later when I go to check into The Mirage. Played a Super Jackpot Party machine while I started this thread. Broke even ater I was done the first couple of posts, and caught the tram to Excalibur, then walked over to MGM Grand to get a ticket for the shuttle out to the Outlet Mall in Primm. Right now I'm playing some bartop VP at MGM while I wait for the shuttle to depart. This brings things up to speed as of right now.......more details soon!

Just got back on the shuttle leaving Primm. They had some fantabulous deals at the outlet mall.....finished most of my Christmas shopping now, and it's not even Christmas eve yet! ( that's when I usually do most of my Christmas shopping, lol). By the way, the drink service at Primm Valley ( the casino attached to the mall) was probably the best I have had at ay casino, anywhere. The bartender was bringing me a fresh bottle of Newcastle Ale before I even needed to ask......he was very much on top of things, which was great. I was in the casino for less than an hour, and had 5 Newcastles while there (oy!). Anyhoo, now I go pick up my luggage, and check in at Mirage. I'm gonna try for a Tower Deluxe room upgrade...... can anyone plz remind me which floors they are on again? (so I know what to ask for at check-in). Next update real soon!

Well, I checked into The Mirage around 8pm. Didn't get the Tower Deluxe, but again got a good view (South Strip). Ate at the buffet for dinner, and it was great. It was the split crab legs that really did it for me, lol. I was gonna just crash for the night, but decided to use the pass for Jet nightclub that I got from a cab driver.

Well, despite being in line for over half an hour, I was told that my pass expired at Midnight, and it was 5 minutes past. Weak.

I could have just paid the 25 or 30 dollar cover, but I didn't think it was going to be worth it. Instead, I went over to T.I. and played some more bartop VP for about an hour. Ended up 7 bucks down, but had more than enough free beers to compensate for that, haha. I checked out Mist.....they had some kind of karaoke thing going on, but I didn't partake. I am a big fan of karaoke btw, and do it all the time at home. Just didn't appeal to me at that time is all.

Headed back next door to Mirage, and played a bit of blackjack. Left the table $200 ahead, then played some random slots and broke even (unless you count the silver strike coin I won, lol). As I type this, I am just heading back up to my room for the night.

Have a good night everyone, and I'll post another update after breakfast! :D

He's just going to bed, and I'm just getting up to go to work. That's just wrong! Of course, I remember a time or two when messages went out from me under the reverse circumstances... so I guess it's payback.

Nice info on the Primm Valley casino! We're renting a car on our next trip (first time for us in Vegas!) and one thing I want to do is go to the outlet mall in Primm. Hubby--not so much. But the possibility of sending him to gamble & drink while I shop---that might work!

    Keep up the good work:cheers:

I slept in later than I intended to; I blame it on the super- comfy bed at Mirage (and the fact I had totalled 10 hours of sleep in the previous 3 days, lol). Got all my stuff packed up for another hotel move......this time to Monte Carlo. Right now I'm enjoying lunch at the Carnegie Deli, I'll post a review when I'm done. Ciao for now, folks!

Carnegie Deli was excellent. I had a sandwich called Nova On Sunday, which was Nova Scotia salmon, lake sturgeon, lettuce, tomatoes and onions, served on a sesame bagel with cream cheese on the side. The portions at this place are MASSIVE! A fellow at the table next to me had a roast beef sandwich, and it looked like they sliced a whole roast, and served it between 2 sices of bread. It could have easily fed 3 or 4 people for sure.

After lunch, I checked out of Mirage and cabbed it over to Monte Carlo, where check-in was friendly, but tedious (looooong line). My room wasn't quite ready, so I used the free play included in my offer. Won about $75 with that, and ended up giving half of it back before calling it quits.

Left Monte Carlo and crossed the street to the half-price ticket booth at the giant Coke bottle. I got a ticket for the 10:30 performance of Bite @ the Stratosphere . It looks like it will be kind of a cheezy show, but sometimes it's fun to see a cheezy how in Vegas just for the novelty of it.

Picked up a 4 pack of Jack Daniel's Country Cocktails, and made my way down to the Hawaiian Marketplace, where I sit typing this post right now. Next up, I'm off to Wynn to meet up with Joe Schmoe and whoever else may show up there.

I'll post another update in a couple of hours.

    Laters!

I got a cab to Wynn and headed for the country club bar to meet up with Joe Schmoe and company, but realized once I was there that I had no clue who they were or whereabouts they would be (and I would have felt foolish asking if the people there were T2Vers, lol. It was still worth going though, as I played a variety of games for about 3 hours or so, then headed back to the Monte Carlo to get my luggage brought up to my room.

I had heard there was a free slot tourney at The Aladdin to co-incide with the Rocky Balboa movie premiere tonight, so I made my way over there. I got 12, 208 points, which was good for a free Aladdin tote bag, lol. I also bought a few Aladdin chips as souvenirs (cuz who knows if they will be available on my next trip), and hoofed it back to the MC, where I am right now posting this from the TV internet in my room.

For this evening's plans, I'm going to check out Bite at the Strat (as previously mentioned), and then maybe Pure Nightclub. I might just check out Rockstar karaoke at the House of Blues though, as that looks to be pretty fun, and I've been wanting to go there for a while now.

I'll post another update when I get back to my room tonight (provided I'm still sober enough to do so, that is, haha

Well, what a night it was. As you can probably imagine, I was in no condition to type out a post after visiting Pure. I slept in till noon, and therefore had just a few hours left to enjoy Vegas before heading home. I just boarded my plane, so I'll need to finish the TR later.

Great TR. I really liked the updates but I'm with Sticky I think a helmet cam would have been great. Remember a picture is worth a thousand words.

Well, I know it's late in coming, but after Christmas, New Year's, and catching up on things at work, I can now finally finish my TR, lol

Anyways, as I mentioned, I went to see "Bite" at the Strat.

The plot was real stupid.......I'm talkin' cheezy as Velveeta. But, the music was enjoyable (classic rock tunes), and the ladies were, well........topless, so it wasn't a complete waste of time, haha. I wouldn't recommend bringing one's wife or gf to it, but if you're stuck for something to do around 10:30pm. I guess there's worse things you could blow your cash on (just be sure to get byour tix at the 1/2 price booths, it is NOT worth full price).

I played a little VP at the big round bar in the middle of the casino floor. Walked away up a few bucks and 2 free Coronas.

Caught a cab to Caesar's Palace to check out Pure. I had a pass good for free cover charge (from the cabbie.....it never hurts to ask!), but once I got inside and saw the lineup.....it was HUGE! I knew the pass was only for the cover charge (not a line pass), but I figured it was worth asking the doorman anyway, in hopes of bypassing the line.

    DENIED

Well, there was no way in Hell's half-acre that I was going to wait 2 hours in line (it was nearly 1:00am by this time), so I folded up a Jackson and slipped it under the pass so that the "20" was just visible. I politely asked the doorman again if there was any way i could get past the line, as it was my last night in Vegas and was eager to check out the club......

    SUCCESS!

Once inside, I ordered a Jack 'n' Coke and chatted with the barkeep for a while. It was surprisingly slow......not empty, but definitely not packed like it was last time I was at Pure. Went back into the casino after a bit and played some VP at Caesar's sportsbook bar. Cashed out about half an hour later, up about $40 and 3 free beers (as you can probably tell by now, I count the profit in both dollars AND beers, haha).

I then drunk-dialled my brother in Lethbridge. The conversation was somewhere along the lines of:

    Me: "Hey man, what's up?!"

Brother: "WTF man, it's 3:30am, why the hell are you calling me this late?!"

Me: "'Cuz I'm in Vegas, sucka.....and you're not! Bwahahaha!"

Brother (clearly bitter that he was in Lethbridge and not Las Vegas): "F**k man, I swear you should have a breathalizer fitted to your cellphone. Some people do this thing called "sleep" every once in a while, look into it"

Went back to Pure and mingled a bit. Ended up chatting with a pair of girls who kept trying to convince me to come upstairs and "check out their sweet room" in the Augustus Tower. While flattered, I told them I had to decline since I was married, to which one of them commented, "well then where's your wedding ring?" I said it was in the safety deposit box back in my room. At this point I was pretty hammered, so I excused myself and went back into the casino......my memory from the night is a little fuzzy after that, but I do remember asking the front desk for a late checkout when I finally made it back to my hotel. The clerk told me I could get a 1pm checkout at no charge, or a 6pm checkout for an extra $25. I figured 1pm would be just fine (little did I know), so I took that option and went up to my room to pass out.
