I'm the same as OP. I will always point out any error that is in favor of the house. I will never point out an error that helps another player. I will usually point out something that helps only me.

I try to watch very carefully. It is very rare for there to be no mistakes during a long blackjack session.

I remember a while back in a similar thread a dealer who used to post here said its better if the player does not point out any error that helps them. He said it winds up hurting the dealer because the pit boss has to note the misdeal in the dealer's record. So he'd rather you enjoy the benefit of the mistake and keep quiet. I tried searching a little bit for that thread but couldn't find it. I remember it pretty clearly though, that post was by a member who dealt in a Ohio casino.

Another thing I do if the error is in my favor. I pretend as if I'm not paying any attention until the dealer picks up his cards. Then, business as usual.

I do the same with any other players at the table. With heads up in HL room, I always point out errors on both sides. Interesting post by Kickin as the dealer always thanks me for pointing out their error in paying me. I think from now on I will stick to the not paying attention method.

I would never ever point out a dealer's error that is in my favor.

Recently at a casino here in Europe, fun table, a dealer made a hand movement to pay my on a losing hand in BJ, but then noticed. I smiled at him and said: "I would have taken the money"

Awhile back had a dealer that paid my loss, I always leave the chips there until he gathers up the cards in case he notices, he was picking up my cards , paused and then made eye contact with me, he made a little oh well movement with his eyes and just picked them up. I agree with those who say you're better off not pointing out their errors in favor of the players, most dealers prob dont want the attention drawn to them like that. I tipped the guy a couple hands later.

I found the thread I was referring to and it turns out I was wrong. It was another poster who suggested the dealer would get written up if you pointed out their mistake. The dealer (IWannaBeInVegas) was on the side of being honest. My bad. :ssst:

I was at MGM at Foxwoods, and had $50 on the Hard 6 and know it came up soft and they didn't take my bet down. The 33 came up the very next roll!

I think after all these stories we (99%) are clear that any person points out mistakes in favour of the player should be banned from any casino:evillaugh
I wouldnt dare to point it out as you will have bad karma for eternity( just to remind you..casino s make enough money and really dont care so much, if you point it out dealer gets more wrong than right so evrybody looses out......at the ip i had once aq suited and there was a misdeal..pitboss came over and sayd pay him the bonusbet! Smart man as i stayed gambling and had a good feeling about the casino afterwards )

If dealers eventually get into trouble for sloppy work, this could be seen as an opportunity to help select worthy casino staff. Let's assume that a particular dealer tends to make the same mistakes over and over. Dealers who tend to err in favor of the house get weeded out while those who favor players keep working.

A$$holes that worry about what is fair. That's not fair! I think some people like that think they should also get the extra payout. WRONG!

I always stay quiet if it benefits me. I feel a slight tinge of guilt but not enough where I give it back.

I always point it out at the cage (rarely do I see mistakes there) because I figure they'll come up short at the end of the night. I don't want anyone getting in trouble and losing a job.

The guilt I feel is forgotten once the next hand is dealt, if that long.

Perhaps someone in the know could comment about the way casinos balance chips and money at a BJ table (IF they do this) at the end of the day. Even if it is done, dealers rotate in and out regularly, so pinning a shortage on one dealer or another would not be easy. They could review the recording (a tedious task), but I assume that is done only if a question should arise, or perhaps occasionally as a random performance/honesty check. Anybody know for certain?

Far as "guilt" is concerned, all I do is wait a few extra seconds before touching the chips to give the dealer a chance to catch and correct the error.

Like others, never say anything if it benefits me or another player. Definitely correct the error if it benefits the casino.

I do the exact same thing...but once the cards have been scooped up and discarded, I take the attitude of, "It's my money now."
