The celebs keep passing away. We saw him at Suncoast in 2009 and of course so many appearances on the Tonight Show. I had no clue he was that old.

I always found him to be very funny.

I always enjoyed him, I was a big "album comedy" fan when I was in high school (early 80's) and sought out the stuff from the 60's-late 70's; David was one of my favorites.

Fortunately I got to see him in the early 2000's while he was in residence at the LV Hilton, Dad and I were rolling on the floor. I always liked how he made himself laugh, and seeing in person, it was genuine the comedic introspection of his routine, he found these anecdotes funny, chose to share them with us, and that was his gift. No blue, no put downs...

best routine was the one where he thought he fooled his father into thinking he won a radio contest..."the radio contest" I think it was called...

I have some great memories watching Brenner, and a lot of other folks for that matter, on the Merv Griffin or Mike Douglas shows with my Dad when I was young. Brenner was SOOO funny!

I thought he was hilarious. I remember him subbing for Carson years ago and Elvira was on that night along with a couple of younger actor brothers. I remember one brother was like 8 and the other 4. David said, oh exactly half, do when you are 40 you will be twenty and when you are 60 you will be 30. They looked at him like he was retarded. :nworthy:

I saw him many years ago walking in Manhattan with some tall hot blonde. That's my memory of him.

My wife and I saw him outside TI -
showing his young son, the pirate ships.
He was doing a "run" in Vegas.
We didn't want to bother him....it was "family time".

I can remember him exploding on to the TV -
when he first started making the TV rounds,
his act was all about his Philly roots/ characters.
he broadened his act thru the years and was a
pretty good Talk Show host, himself.

    What was his illness ?

He was just at the Valley Forge Casino about a month or so ago. I didn't get to see him but it was said that his act was still funny and topical.
