The Rio is still our go to casino. Like to relax off the strip. Easy driving off the strip on the back roads. Priced right. The pool is pretty nice.

I ate the Village Seafood buffet in the beginning of Nov. The slipper Lobster Tails were terrible! They had some good grilled split in the shell scampi"s, very good flavor. I had eaten it before. Wanted to go again before it closed. They had large lobster claws and crab legs. in addition their cold bar had a lot of variety, it had scallops on the half shell.

I just stayed there for 2 nights. It isn't BAD, but it sure isn't what it once was. I will say this, though. The crews, overall, were much better than they had been in the past. Not just skilled, but pleasant and social. The rooms are showing their age (I stayed in the Impanema Tower), the hallways are beat up, and there is just general wear and tear obvious just about anywhere you look closely. It still makes me sad to see the Mardi Gras show tracks in the ceiling that will never be used again.

Was there last week for the Carnival Buffet with the family and it was awesome. Glad I'm diamond because the regular line was at least 1 - 1 1/2 hours, lots of big groups. Diamond has there own dining room with Extra large padded booths and it was packed as well. (This was midweek).

Didn't stay there this trip so can't comment on the rooms, but the casino and bar's were jammed and there was a good vibe going.

Well, decided to change to the Flamingo from the Rio for March trip. Love the location and really liked the hotel as well and it seems they are quite easy going about the sandwich! Since we will be doing most of our visiting on the Strip, seemed that staying at the Rio just to stay somewhere different was not a valid enough reason for doing so. Both stays would be comped, so price was not a factor.

Only good reason to stay at the Rio is if it's comped so you can walk over to Gold Coast to gamble...they even have a stop light now. We liked Buzio's for happy hour so that is another negative. The note above about the sportsbook is right on although you can't get internet access there. I think this probably will be up for sale soon. They don't seem too concerned with filling in empty retail or restaurant space.

That's what I did last time we stayed at Rio. They (Rio) have taken out most of the machines I like, and Gold Coast has TONS of them.

I do like the new style drink service at Rio, but lately it's been off and on with more "off" cycles.

Yes, the slot machine selection is terrible hardly anything new. And all the slots I used to enjoy playing are gone.
I still like the buffet especially the Asian section soups made to order and dim sum.
I like sitting at the bar at Buzios and now that's closing as well it makes it hard for me to choose the Rio as a place to go for slots and food.
