No problem getting to a table on thursday night. Some tables not open. 3 Card poker had 2-3 people, craps had a couple of people to none, table dead, black Jack had the dancing girls party pit with no party. there were 4 dancing girls/dealers with 1 person playing at a couple of tables and none at one table. I didn't look at the rules but assumed they were 6/5. There was a roulette table, looked like electronic type that had two people, I just walked by it so Didn't notice what it was. Let It Ride, Pai Gow, and $25 BJ tables were closed. Things will pick up over the weekend.

That stage in front of Golden Gate just jams up the crowd, blocks access to the Plaza, and is really killing the foot traffic there. I had to cut through the Vegas Club Casino to get by the mob and to my hotel room this week. BTW, the Vegas Club is in the worst shape I've ever seen. Everything beyond the front casino room is shut down, dark, disconnected, and abandoned. And it stunk like raw sewage. :vomit:

Blaming the stage is an easy excuse, no one is there because they have bad rules/pay tables. I was there last month and it was pretty dead as the guy says, I made one token attempt to play BJ - continuous shuffler(at an empty table accomplishes nothing), $10 min (if no one is there, why not 5?). They did have 3/2 but no dancing girls, if they go to 6/5 during the dancing dealers, thats the kiss of death.

Bottom line is they are hurting bad, no vibe, no fun, no people, as you know the Vegas club is run by the same outfit, what you see there is their true nature, can't blame the stage for no one being there, can you?

Some casino operators get it, some don't. They need to attract new players, not chase them away, the resort fee just shows that they dont get it, no one wants to go to vegas and hang around in an empty casino, even if the resort fee gives them a small boost in revenue(until people figure out they are being ripped off), it will only hurt traffic numbers, and they cant afford to lose any more players.

A big huge casino with hundreds of employees cant survive with a dozen slot players at a time, along with a half dozen table players(if they are lucky).

What a shame. I've always liked the way the building stood at the end of Fremont. A rather commanding presence. It's too bad they ruined it worth horrible pay tables and rules.

In all honestly I think if they just would've raised their rates ten bucks and made some favorable games to play they probably wouldn't have this problem.

I'm not saying you aren't correct - you definitely are. But factor in the physical barricades and it just makes things worse.

So right. Some just do not get it. True in pretty much any business though. People do what they think is smart to make more money, but just cost themselves money in the long run. The bankruptcy courts are full of idiots.

Cutting comps. Raise rooms or food rates. Increasing house edge. Adding fees like resort fee. All short term fixes that cost in the long run.

They used to run the now closed Western , remember when they went to 6/5 there the last year or so, 6/5...at the western(they had 2 tables with customers that couldn't count, but could tell a good deal from a bad one)), some bean counter came up with that idea actually thinking it would boost profits. They really think that every move they make to theoretically increase revenues, will be without a counter reaction.

The time to increase revenues and maybe tweak the odds in your favor is when you are busy, real busy, when you think the atmosphere will override the counter-reaction, which always comes.

Yup, they just dont get it, and apparently there is no one in management, who sits in on these meetings with the sense, or balls, to say "woa, lets rethink this".

It's a shame the way things are turning out for them. Just all around bad management. They killed the Western, it used to be a great place to gamble rules wise. Vegas club was sad in May, and reports says its worse now. The gambling at the Plaza just sucks now, DW and I couldn't win a nickel there, I bet they have tightened the slots so much. And the CW service is a huge issue for me, since all you can get is well crap, even if you are betting big. Other places are doing it so much better just steps away.

I wonder if the FSE put that stage there as a protest against the Plaza for not paying the dues.

yeah, that resort fee thing is really killing the plaza....

Nah nah, just joking:poke:, especially since the resort fee isn't going to start until the end of the month (or was it the end of June? I forget).

Actually I think it is a number of things. For one, I think I read somewhere that they (the plaza) didn't want to be part of the FSE (paying fees and such). I think the stage blocking the plaza is probably a deliberate attempt to "partition" the FSE off from the plaza. But even without the stage I still get a feeling that the plaza isn't part of the FSE experience. Some people go up and down the FSE but always seem to stop at main street and don't venture across the street.

The other part is gaming. I posted in January about my stay there. The dealers weren't very friendly, seemed kind of stuffed shirt. At the craps table they had someone playing but when the guy left they started making fun of him, making comments and laughing. I was thinking of playing craps and was watching the action but when I heard them commenting on the customer I decided to play elsewhere. I think others feel the same about the gaming at the plaza though.

The casino actually looks pretty good after the renovations, they just need to get a way to get the customers to play there and keep them there. Others have commented that they may stay at the plaza but end up playing elsewhere. That mentality has to be changed and the Plaza needs to come up with something to keep the hotel guests playing at the plaza but they haven't come up with anything to do that (hence the "clueless" comment I made on another thread). Maybe better gaming?

Because the Plaza and lvc are sister properties I am afraid that they will also try to make the lvc "upscale" and start to charge resort fees after they renovate the place. IMHO, they should upgrade the lvc rooms but keep the nightly rates down. I don't know what they can do to "upscale" the lvc but I think the draw to the place is the cheap room rates (ain't the gambling, that's for sure, lol).
