So trying a new strategy for craps that I tried many years ago and hated when a few PSOs killed me. At Wynn today.

I will play 500 pass line, full odds, so say average 2000 odds.

15k across, hit two numbers and then reduce to 5500 or 6000 across.

With this strategy I had a down 12k session, two shooters back and forth, only 1 pass after three iterations, hit the all tall for 3500 once.

My main topic for discussion with you guys is whether my ratio between my pass line bet and all the numbers is correct. 15k across is 3k per number. The pass line bet is around 2.5k, but that's a committed bet. So when I reduce to 6k across the pass line is heavier than the numbers.

Certainly for this session it worked out that my losses were greatly reduced.

I think the ratios sound fine. You're more disciplined than me though--I like to press the numbers I place across rather than reduce them. My struggle is with when to take some profit rather than press.

That was my strategy on all the previous trips, trying something new this trip. Getting tired of hunting for that elusive 40m roll...

I'm going around your strategy, you would be better served by trying to identify a qualied shooter than staying in every roll

First, Happy New Year! Second, I know you like the action but you and I know if you are getting tired of the elusive 20 minute roll let alone the 40m roll, why not just play to maybe win? Pass line full odds and maybe the 6 and 8 only? You can still have your same avg and theo doing that. And you might just win. As you know, the sucker bets are fun but do you win? As you know again, a 5%, 7% or 17% house edge bets are throwing away money. If you take the "action" factor out what are you left with? Winning? At least you will have a fighting chance. After you are up 200k or whatever then play the "fun" and "action" bets? Is it about the action? Is it about winning? It sure isn't about losing. No matter how much you have in the bank.

And third, You know how I play and im not going to even try to ask you to play that way. But as you know it works for me! If im disciplined. Sounds like no matter which way we play we both need something in common, DISCIPLINE!

Bottom line I love that you are trying this. It is a great change.
"I will play 500 pass line, full odds, so say average 2000 odds.15k across, hit two numbers and then reduce to 5500 or 6000 across". For whatever it is worth, it is a good play! Or I should say, a better play.

Good luck my friend and pound THEM! Lets see some winning chip porn! Happy New Year!

how many numbers will you want to hit before you reduce?
It seems like you will need to hit 2 numbers to profit before you reduce.

good luck. Ill try to catch u there next visit.

Yes that's the plan. Hit two and reduce. I guess this is sort of turning into a TR, didn't plan on writing one for this short NY trip. Tried this strategy again during the evening, had a nice roll with one pass. I realize there's a lot less pressure playing with winnings after the 2nd roll.

Guy at other end (only two of us) was betting 5k pass line and full odds. Only 200 coming and full odds though. He lost his ass since out of 3 rolls we made one pass. I made 19k since I had a good roll on my starting roll (almost regretted taking bets down after 2nd number hit, but only one pass)

On my 2nd roll I lost about 15k since I 7'd out after only hitting one number.

If you were in pressing mode.
pass with odds, then across with come bet. At least u hedge a 7.
Profit from the number bet plus the original number bet gets changed to odds.

When you leaving Wynn this time around?

All around your betting startegy is so sound I could kick my ass myself.

Im harboring to say that with a full lie on the numbers...you are so indebted to a killer roller/monster that it may be that you want to play that hunch ( Yeah I know; HUNCH) but damn with what the levels you are at and loss perception; I think you'd be sorry if the roller threw numbers.

Do you look at how the roller is setting or no? Do you even care?

I always see a dice setter as someone who may (MAY>>>>) take that one mofo 7 outta the equation and make a anomoly of a roll. Has it worked at my low level?

    Yes.

Will it transfer to higher denom? Im assuming it would; being a savvy craps guy as you are; Id say damn the torpedoes and play 'em.

Just have to say I don't really believe in qualified shooters or dice setting (even though I do it, just need a habit to throwing motion).

I just remember all the times I point sevened out and all the times I had decent rolls...

    Understandable.

I think the most remebered times are the best rolls; followed damn close by those PSO....

Best of luck (and throwing motion)...:nworthy:...to you and the next journey to those felt tables in LV.

Always dig on your adventures and TR's

Ok guess the strategy doesn't work when the table PSOs every roll or two. Lose 100k in no time. Made 60k of it back in roulette, but still stings. Dice can be cruel...

For me the problem would lie in what do you do after you've reduced the place bets. The only way to win very large is to pyramid/press your bets.

So a shooter hits 2 9s for you and you reduce. What about the next 5? Why not reduce and then press to what you just won? So hit on $500 9 becomes $700. Hit $700 becomes $1,000. You are still racking a lot of chips and you leave door open for that monster hand.

I think there's some confusion. After I reduce the 15k across I do 6k across, because that's what 2 hits of 3k each number is. Obviously I make more if the 2 hits were 4s and 10s.

I actually lose money if the 3rd roll is a 7 because the pass line would lose.

Anyways, strategy pretty much kaput after today....

I'm like those who are wired to press aggressively. I have never tried reducing my place bets but like you said if the dreaded PSOs are on a roll then it doesn't matter - the passive or the aggressive will get smoked just the same.

You're right - the dice can be cruel. I don't believe in dice setting or controlled shooting but I believe in good rhythm. I'm a rhythm shooter and I like when there are people who shoot the same way - I've had more good rolls with players like that than not. That's not to say PSO and variance don't read their ugly heads but it seems that I'll have better sessions when rhythm players are on the bones.

I'm going to shoot a bit this week in Louisana as a prep for the SB weekend trip.

Good luck, Nate. May the dice treat you well this evening!

Yeah, went back to the normal 6k across to start and pressing heavily. Actually worked out better than the previous two days. Hit two hard 8's for 13k each and 14k on the pass line. Also an All for a nice 24.6k. Overall came back a lot today. So going to play normal from now on.

on a side note, in Blackjack, some guy buys in next to me for 15k in cash at a $500 shoe game at Cosmo. Goes on a tear and makes 30k in the first 10 hands or so (he pressed to 5k like on the 3rd hand and hit a few BJs.) Then I proceeded to watch the train wreck....where he loses everything back and had to dig out and extra 1k for the last split then double at 500 each, which he lost of course...money management is critical....

Nate, I usually put one unit on the sister number of the point, place 5 when point is 9 and so on. I usually let my place hit once and press on subsequent hits. But when I am at a table with more than 3-4-5 odds I used my place winnings to press up my odds. So like for you, $500 on the the line means $600 on 6/8 and $500 on the others.
