Well, we finally got roped into a Council Bluffs junket and will be there for the Chicago concert. They are flying us in and out and providing airport transportation. A few questions:

Are there any non-gambling attractions out there and can we get to them by public transportation or car? There is a gold tourney included but we don't golf so there will be plenty of free time.

We've been told that there is a shuttle between Harrahs and Horseshoe but is there a way to access Ameristar?

The pic on the website makes it look like a typical Harrahs but does that mean tiny bathroom, too?

Made my first stop ever at Council Bluffs this summer and hit all three casinos up. Ended up gambling at Ameristar, though, that seemed to be a lesser cadre site than Harrahs and Horseshoe. Did not stay there, as I was on a I-80 cross country trip.
I know that didn't answer your original questions, but wanted to verify that it wasn't a wasted stop for me in checking them out. All are within a few short miles of one another and the neighborhoods appeared safe.

I live an hour from there.

    1. Harrahs recently went to a land based casino and shut down the river boat. Personally I think the new casino is a joke. However - the rooms there are very nice in my opinion.

    2. The horseshoe is the way to go. It's the best council bluffs has to offer.

    3. I'm biased - but I hate Ameristar. Not sure why, just do.

    4. There is a shuttle that runs from harrahs to the shoe. They used to drop off and pick up at Ameristar as well.

    Local attractions:
The Zoo. Voted top 2 in the nation.

No public transport. Cabs is it in that area.

Very safe - no worries in those areas. Just stay away from north omaha.

Any other questions - just ask.

I was in Omaha for job training in Feb. the casino is nice but there is nothing around it at all. I played a whole $100 there for about 3 hours and walked out with $92. I get comp offers in the mail almost every month although there won't be anything bringing me back there in the future.

Yes, the Horseshoe seemed to be top dog of the three.
