Time to start planning for our yearly Vegas trip! We'll be celebrating the wifey's b-day in February and I'm trying to narrow where we'll be staying. This past summer we stayed at the Cosmopolitan (Terrace 1br) and loved it! We've always stayed center/south Strip (Aria, Cosmo, PH, MB, MGM, Caesars) Considering Venetian or Palazzo for this trip to change it up. Are there any "real" differences between the two properties (besides the wall/railing in the rooms)? Or, should we hit Cosmo again? Any nfo would be great!

Big fan of V/P here, we stay there 3-4x a year. That said, if you want that center strip location (or view of the strip), stick with Cosmo. V/P has a bad location in terms of views of the strip (many "strip view" rooms just look across the street at TI and don't really see the strip), additionally, while not a bad walk, it is a walk to the center strip area.

V/P is a bit quieter, unless there's a big convention at Sands, and then its crazy. My wife and I enjoy the quieter casino, but if you want a more exciting atmosphere, once again, V/P is not the place for you.

Cosmo obviously also gives you easier access to a lot of properties for various options, whereas with V/P you're more inclined to stay on property - take that for what its worth.

In terms of rooms, I have to admit I've never stayed at Cosmo, but based on experiences from a couple friends who do and visiting their room, you're going to have top-class accomodations either way. I've always been jealous of those terrace balconies at Cosmo though, and wish I had that option at V/P.

The balconies are a plus for "various" reasons. From what I've seen online the rooms at V/P are awesome. Are there any real differences between them? Is there an advantage to staying at one vs the other (V/P)?

Should we hit Cosmo again? I don't know, have you visited V/P? I've gambled at Cosmo, decided it's not a good fit for me, but do enjoying staying at V/P. If you've visited V/P and liked it, I'd say give it a try if you want to change things up this trip.

I started staying at the Palazzo, liked it, so have never stayed at the Venetian, although I really view V/P as one big property. With the two casinos, plenty of eating options in all price ranges, shopping, and entertainment on site, I do have trips where I never leave the property. Staying at the Palazzo would give you easier access to Wynn/Encore and the Fashion Show Mall. At the Venetian you'd be a bit closer if you plan to walk to the center/south strip.

As for the rooms, the Venetian has two towers, the Venetian tower and the smaller Venezia tower. Staying in the Venezia tower requires a bit more walking to get to the main part of the hotel. Opened in 1999, the latest renovation of the Venetian tower rooms was finished this summer. The Venezia tower rooms are a few years newer, and were last updated in 2012. Opened in 2008, the Palazzo rooms are being scheduled for a refresh, maybe starting later next year. The rooms are similar, with the Palazzo having a more contemporary décor, while the Venetian I'd describe as more old-world opulent. Wherever you decide, I hope you and your wife have a great birthday trip!

I think we're going to stick with Cosmo, wrap around suite this time. We talked it over last night and having Secret Pizza at 4am put Cosmo over the top.

Good choice, I've stayed in both. Venezia tower in December '13, Cosmo in December '14, and I enjoyed the Cosmo more. The area within quick walk around the Cosmo is more entertaining too, IMHO.

Nice! They gave me a suite for 3 days, I'm used to staying at places like IP and Flamingo basic rooms, so this will be epic for us lol
