Wow what a roller coaster today!

To first be in context, I reserved at the cromwell two months ago because I couldn't afford going back to the cosmo(my favorite hotel) my 30th birthday. Even if I reserved the cromwell, I was always thinking about the cosmo and how I would love to go back there instead but the terrace room was too expensive.

After few weeks of thinking about it, I decided to say "f**k it! I will book the city room because even if it's not exactly what I want, I will at least stay at the cosmo" It's funny because I imagined myself at the cromwell on my 2nd floor room looking at the big ass cosmo :D. The City room was at the same rate as the cromwell room so I cancelled and booked the city room. I was really happy of my choice.

Today I called the Cosmo reservation because my reservation wasn't linked to my identity membership. I spoke to a very very nice woman who told me that I paid too much for my room and she provided me a new rate!!! I asked how much it would be for the terrace room with a fountain view and she said, it's the same amount as the city room on the previous rate I had!:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I was very excited on the phone and I said it was for my 30th years old birthday and she seemed genunely happy for me and she said she took a note about my birthday.

I know most people won't really care about this story but it just totally changed my trip and it made my day! This is one of the reasons why I love the cosmo so much.

Congratulations! Not only do you get to stay where you wanted to, but you're getting a better room for the same price.

Congratulations and Happy 30th! I am very happy to hear about your experience! I have always had excellent customer service at Cosmo and you must have called while they were running a nice promo, good job, I really never understand when people say they don't like it there??? Once I am finished trying everywhere that I would like to stay in November, I really don't see me staying anywhere else but the Cosmo.

That's great, happy early birthday. I wonder if the answer would have been different if the pool incident had not occurred a few weeks ago. Not to be cynical, I know quite a few people that cancelled reservations at Cosmo after that, and I've been wondering if its hurt their occupancy % at all.

Either way enjoy the trip and the great room, those terrace rooms are awesome!!

Yes it does hurt. When I booked for the Cromwell (before the incident) rates were much higher. It didn't drop as soon as the incident happened but after few weeks I saw a decrease in the rates.

The incident is an isolated case and it's probably safer than it was before now so no need to cancel reservations there.

Oh I agree, I wouldn't be concerned at all, and its kind of like when an elevator breaks down....nobody wants to ride it again...but in reality its probably the best one to ride since it just got repaired (assuming it was repaired right, ha).

We were there in May and had booked a city room and at check-in we were offered a upgrade to one-bedroom fountain view for an extra fifty dollars a night. I was a bit put off my this cost and wanted to see the room first. As soon as we walked into the room and onto the terrace I thought this is about the best fifty dollars we ever spent.

We spent a lot more time in the room than we probably would have otherwise and it may have ended up saving me money.

Glad you made the decision to change hotels, I bet you'll be much happier.

Have a great time and a happy 30th .

    Nice little birthday present!

I can't imagine there will be any long term effects from the fire. (I recently switched my October reservation from Encore to Cosmo.)
