For the last few years our "normal" hotel to stay at has been Aria, We went a few weeks ago but ended up staying at the Delano (very nice BTW) because we couldn't get a room at Aria. Anyway at some point we went over to play at Aria and were shocked to see half the casino floor under construction. In retrospect I'm glad we didn't stay there but does anyone know what they are doing?

I was just there last weekend.

The new VIP lounge is opening in the next couple months, which is taking up some of the former Bell Desk and east corridor space, which a few slot machines might have occupied. Replacement for Deuce Lounge should be opening in the somewhat-near future, at least according to bartenders.

Not sure what else you saw that was "under construction"; they're working on the former Haze space, and as of last week there's a bit of maintenance going on in the Elements shop, but I certainly didn't see anything that would have constituted "half the casino floor". What areas were you talking about?

When we were there in August the entire slot area back by the Poker room was being worked on. Is that the same area you are talking about?

That could be it (though I certainly wouldn't call that half the casino floor by any measure). I do recall them screwing around with that area back in July, but things seem generally clear now. They mostly were just rearranging the floor and putting in new carpet, ostensibly to make a walkway to the promenade area where the new marquee restaurants are.

Bottom line, most of whatever they were doing is done now, unless the construction in the old Haze space somehow spills over onto the main floor. I definitely didn't notice anything particularly disruptive when I was there.

Didn't say that was near half the floor, just curious if that was still going on. Good to hear that is cleared up, made for one hell of a bottleneck by the poker room with all the morons stopping right by the columns of the Poker room to talk, check their cell phones and such.
