Consider NOT GOING to Vegas in Mid April - at least at Caesars April 11th

I happened to be looking at the April calendar and noticed room rates at Caesars over $1,000 the week of April 11th. Harrahs across the street is under $100. Mirage is reasonable.

So, I check for big conventions and see the NAB is there, but the FOLLOWING week. Rates for that week are high, but not terrible. The week before has rooms for $99.

Little more research, and see that http://cinemacon.com/ is taking place at Caesars.

Guessing they are close to sold out.

So, when folks ask when the best time to go is and what rooms cost... it depends. Could be $100 this week, or over $1,000 next week.

Thanks for the heads up! I was actually going to book for that week at Caesar's, but I've changed my plans. I didn't see either event on the LV Event calendars I checked, so your post was very much appreciated. :)

As of a couple nights ago I was still comped at Ballys that week. So if you like CET props, check some of the others.

It's neat to walk around the area where CinemaCon is being held in Caesars. I was able to do that back in April 2012. I couldn't go to the presentations, but I was able to walk around looking at & taking pictures of the displays that the movie studios set up. Celebrities go to the convention. I didn't see any in 2012. I'll be in Vegas the same week this year for CinemaCon. I'll be staying at Monte Carlo. I'm planning on putzing around CinemaCon again this year.

Have run into same issue in the past- check LV convention calendar and nothing shows up. Then when go to check in, have found large conventions at CP. Where else can I look for specific hotel convention calendar for instance? How did you find out about cinemacon? Am always more than willing to plan my trips to AVOID large conventions so any more info of how to research in future appreciated!

We were in Vegas near the end of Cinemacon last year. We only go when it's "cheap". The Linq's rates were fine then. I'm guessing many of the conventioneers stay at Caesars only.

How did I find that convention? I think I search on convention with one of those dates or something like that. That would not normally work, but I got lucky.

I did notice on their website that any requests for a suite had to go through them and not through Caesars hotel. They apparently have that much sway.

As to events happening. We were in the casino during one of these once (total coincidence) and witnessed a parade of the Despicable Me minions marching through.
