    My Trip Report

Hey guys. Will here. It's been a while since I've been on, but I now I have a trip planned for this weekend (3/7) I figured it was time to start a report and get stoked for VEGAS!

This trip is based around me going to Con Expo. Anyone that is is familiar with any construction trade then knows what Con Expo is. For those of you that don't know, well lets just saw its the largest construction show in the world. They hold it in a different continent every year and on the 3rd year its comes to Vegas.

We will be leaving CA early Friday to get a half day at the show on Friday. And that night we planning to just go get a decent steak. Any recommendations? We Are staying at Harrahs so walking distance would be cool. After that we will just have some drinks and play a few table games or poker and take it pretty easy.

Saturday we will hit the show hard int he morning. Check out all the latest advances in construction technologies and try to make some good connections for upcoming purchases. But once the night hits, we are going to hit it hard!

Sunday we make the treaded ride home. I'll keep the thread updated as the day gets closer and keep it going from Vegas.

Weluvvegas, I'm right there with you. I also work in an office capacity for a General Engineering Contractor and knowing some of the people that I work with...

Suthrnoutlw, what company if I may ask? We rent from a couple of larger companies when needed..if you don't want to say out loud, shoot me a PM, or not, I understand.

I wish I could get the boss to spring to send me one year but it will never happen...I suppose I could schedule some vacation time and kill 2 birds kind of thing, but who knows

Sorry for the late trip report but as all of you guys know, it takes a few days to get back into the swings of real life after a sleepless Vegas trip.

We loaded the car up at 4am and made the 6.5 hour trek to Vegas. The drive in was pretty uneventful which is a good thing. We got to ConExpo, got our badges and began checking out some of the latest equipment to hit the market. Everything was pretty impressive. The most impressive thing is how big some of the tractors are that they are able to fit into the convention center. We saw one crane that took 25 semi loads to get there. A lot of big $$$$$$ spent at this show.

Later on in the afternoon its time to head to Harrahs and check in. I tried the $20 trick at checkin and we got upgraded to one of their newly renovated, strip view suits. Got up there and it was ok. But who is going to be in the room anyways? This is Vegas!

My buddy decides to nap for a little bit and I saw screw that. This is Vegas. We came to play. I head down to the casino and buy into the $60 poker tournament. They had 2 tables filled for it. I was running pretty card dead and couldn't make anything happen. I finally got a KQ suited. Which was the best thing I had seen the whole time. I shove and loose to an Ace high. Wah Wah.

Head to get some beers, stop at a 3 card poker table, loose another $100. I head up to the room to get ready for dinner and wake my buddy up. We had reservations for Ruths Chris Steak house. The dinner was great with good views of the strip.

We walk over to The Quad. I wanted to check it out because I normally stayed at the IP for their cheap rates. They did a pretty good job on they remodel. The casino was very inviting and low stakes. We both buy in for $100 at black jack table. Lets just say my buddy is a novice to black jack and the whole basic strategy thing. The dealer and I are giving him crap for his lack of knowledge of the game but its all in good fun. We are winning too so that adds to it. One memorable hand was when I had 20 and the dealer was showing a 6. I had $15 in front and being the drunkin degenerate that I am I think it would best to split. So now I have $30 out in front. I hit another 10 so you know what that means. Time to split those 10s again. Now I have $45. And can you guess what happens next? another 10. Screw it. Lets split it again. Not I have $60 in front. I hit 19, 21, 16, and 18. My buddy stays with his 13 and the dealer shows his 16. Boom he hits a 10! Pay the table!!!!! After that a couple more guys stop by and start playing. Turns out they were there for ConExpo also and I have spoken to one of them a couple of times on the phone before. Small world.

They floor starts giving us shots of fireball and we are slowly bleeding chips back to the house. Then they switched dealers on us and she was a total monster. We all grab our chips to leave since she killed the vibe. I cash out with $90. Not a bad way to spend $10 for a couple of hours of entertainment and getting even drunker.

Now that we made some new friends we thought it would be a good time to head to the Hustler. More shots of whiskey and a lot of inappropriate comments to strippers, I found my self in a cab by my self back to the room. I dropped a $100 on black 22 because you never know. Well guess what it didn't hit. I end up in drunkin stupor around 4am.

Next morning we grab coffees and a bloody mary and head to the show again. I had a couple of meetings set up that day so we see who I needed to see and wander around some more.

After show is over we go to the Burger Bra at Paris for some lunch. We get some booze and burgers. As we are sitting there some cute girl from Iowa starts chatting up my buddy. They hit it off pretty well but she informs him that her flight leaves in 2.5 hours. We look over and she's on her phone with her travel agent canceling her flight! So I loose my buddy from then on out because he's now in love with the girl from Iowa.

Now on my own, I had back to Harrahs to try some cash games. I can't really make anything happen after sitting there for 4 hours. Im hungry again so I head up the room to get ready for a solo dinner. I head over to the Forum at Ceasars and get a table for 1 at Joe's. Wow. I decided to treat my self since its Vegas. I get oysters, crab, and a fillet. All chased down with a couple dirty martinis.

I got play 3 card for a while and loose. Play some roulette and loose. I was just giving money back where ever I went. I drink some more and finally call it a night at 4 am because of the time change.

My buddy and the Iowa girl get their own room somewhere for the night. He calls me at 9:30 and says she's gone. He's depressed ha. We got on the road and make the long journey home.

Well that was my trip. Even though I got my ass kicked by the casinos I'm already ready to go back!

We just got back too; hubby went to Nascar while I gambled, drank and shopped. We ate at The Burger Brasserie but NO I'm not from Iowa lol. Your buddy would have paid a pretty penny for the last minute room during Con Expo and Nascar so take it the depression was a good sign it was worth it. Sounds like you enjoyed your trip!

They were comping shots of fireball at the Quad? Is this a regular practice? I may need to add the Quad to my itinerary for next week!

They gave us 4 shots each while still serving us beers. We were life of the casino:drunk:

My buddy ended up staying at the Quad. I think they got a room around 1am and i know he paid a pretty penny for it but he said it was all worth it!
