I was starting with Fitz and Hooters late last year and both were about to leave, and I am sure anyone who had started with Sahara was disappointed. I am now curious about LVH and Riviera. Is it worth even playing over there if they may disappear any moment?

If you like playing at those properties, enjoy the atmosphere that they offer, win there, etc. then there should be no problem playing there.

If you are looking for a place to start playing for the sake of building a long term relationship with, then one might ask why you are purposefully seeking out troubled properties.

But, you can look at these places like: Fitzgerald's and Hooters aren't gone and while Fitzgerald's might have changed to "The D" they didn't just delete their entire player database and start from scratch again... LVH its really hard to say what will happen there: are they just losing rights to use the name "Hilton" and still going to be around for a long while more? And Riviera I don't think anybody knows whats going to happen there: if you go back and find any Las Vegas travel guide from 10 years ago they all list under Riviera's entry that it is expected to be bought out and possibly shut down "any day now" and thats pretty much been their entry ever since.

The way I look at it is that no place is really "guaranteed" to honor your comps or accumulated credits/points, etc. anymore - just look at the recent history of changes at Venetian/Palazzo, mLife, etc. - so just play where you like without too much thought to loyalty, because the rug is just as likely to get pulled out from under you at one of the more "stable" properties as one of the ones that's just hanging on.

The D actually just gave me a nicer comp than the Fitz ever did. Free nights and a VIP cruise on Lake Mead with about 50 guests, all the hosts and casino managers....so I agree with Jilly (also from Philly) You should be fine.
