I did a search and they all seemed to be old closed threads.

Do you still get comped smokes?

If yes, at tables or slots?

    Certain properties?

I did once about 5 years ago.

Last year we were playing and I ran out. I tried to see if I could score a pack so I was talking to the dealer about how I might have to get up and get some. She Called the pit boss to call the cigarette girl...the whole time I'm playing up the 'I need one now' line. It took like 10 minuted for the girl to come...still didn't know if I was going to have to pay or if I would get them comped...I had to pay.

So what have been your experiences with this?

Obviously, it depends on what you’re betting. And I’m sure each casino is different as far as what’s required. The last time I actually asked a pit boss what the policy was, he told me that $25+/hand would get you free smokes. Of course that was several years ago (probably close to 10). I’d bet it takes a fair amount more than $25/hand these days.

For table games, if you’re playing in the HL room, you’ll get them quite easily. And (at least at the Wynncore joints) you’ll get them without any problems if you’re playing in the pits that have the higher minimum tables. I assume that if you’re playing a low minimum table, the CW would have to get the go-ahead from the pit boss first. But that’s not a big deal – when you see a CW coming, get the PB’s attention and ask if you can get a pack of smokes.

With slots and video poker, I really don’t know how it would work if you’re playing on the main floor. I know I’ve never had any problems getting them when I’m playing VP in the HL room at Wynn. But I’ve always just paid for them when I’m playing on the main floor.

I was at a table with a guy at PH who got a comped pack while playing Mississippi stud, asked the pitboss for a pack, pitboss called over the girl, and the pitboss signed for them.

The guy was playing $100 ante, never folded, always bet max on 3rd, 4th, and 5th street for $1000 per hand and always bet $100 on the 3 card bonus...

I got comped smokes last year. I was playing a Keno Machine at Bellagio 10$-20$ per spin near the high limit area. Was there for at least 2 hours and the Waitress who was servicing me for the 2 hours got me a pack of smokes when I asked her if I could buy some in the Casino. She said that I'd been there for awhile and they'd comp me them. Gave her a 10$ tip so it ended up being a wash, but at least I got my smokes without having to get up.

    b) when you could get a pack of darts comped for betting that low!

    I wasn't 21 in the 90's...it was 5 years ago.

SO I guess I had a rare experience.

Last year while playing BJ at Southpoint, a drunk fella playing at our table requested cigarettes. Pit boss was called over and she reminded him that he'd already had his pack that day.

So maybe they're free there with a one pack limit? He wasn't betting huge bets that I remember. I'm thinking he was playing around $10-$25 a hand.

The last time I've seen cigs comped is at Encore about 3 years ago. Pit boss noticed this guy was out at my pai gow poker table and had another brought out without asking (he was only betting green chips on pgp). I haven't seen anyone ask since.

Unfortunately we both were losing over the next few days (kept on seeing this guy at the same table, I guess we were on the same gambling schedule) and joked that nothing is free in Vegas and he apologized because those cigs cost us both a tidy sum :p

About 5 years ago my bro got cigs comped. He was playing $25-50 per hand in BJ. Asked pit boss and they signed for it.

I am not sure about nowadays. It has to be at least $25/hand minimum, maybe $50.

At Cosmo on one of those evenings when there was no one else playing in the high limit slot area, they comped two of my non gambling friends each their own packs based on me playing. I dont smoke so I had no use for it but they were happy.

If you are playing in the Palace Court casino at CP the pit will sign for whatever you want from the cigar/cigarette girl. Some players abuse this a bit and take 3-4 expensive cigars at a time. I have never seen them turned down.

My son got a pack of cigarettes comped playing $5.00 BJ in Bills last year. He doesn't even smoke cigarettes. The server was coming around offering cigars and cigarettes and he called her over to see what cigars she had, none to his liking so he took a pack of cigarettes knowing I smoke, asked how much and the pit boss said no charge.
I got a comped a pack this past May in Ballys playing 4-card poker at a $5.00 table.

I don't know if they still do, but a couple years ago you could get a pack a day at Silverton for putting something like 500 points on your card. I didn't smoke, but did it a couple times for a friend.

A little over 3 years back I was playing $5.00 craps at Binions and asked the pit boss for a light. He said no problem and gave me a token I could exchange for a pack from the waitress. I had brought a carton of smokes from home as I didn't really like American cigarettes and have since quit so still have the token. Never did get a light from the guy :rolleyes2:

    Slightly more recent experience here from early September this year;

At Palazzo after being at the blackjack table for at least 2.5 hours playing $25-$75 a hand: Pit Boss called the girl over but I had to pay.

At Wynn, after about the same time and bets: Comped no problem.

Earlier experiences, again at the blackjack tables: Venetian No, Monte Carlo: Yes on one occasion, no on another.

Luck of the draw I think, but it seems like V/P is more likely to be a no at lower level play.
