Planning upcoming trip and love staying downtown. However choices are a bit limited for the dates we want. We have only stayed downtown at The Grand and The Nugget. Considering Plaza, Freemont or 4 Queens. I'm familiar with all the hotel rooms on the strip as we've stayed at most. Can you give me a comparison of a strip hotel to these downtown properties. For example: Is a room at The Freemont like a room at Harrahs? Or are all strip hotels nicer than the ones I listed?

Just trying to get some idea of these places as I've never seen the rooms.

I have some of 4Q, I just can't locate them at the moment. Found them.

Plaza & 'the D' rooms are comparable to a Harrah's room... but with a smaller bathroom.
Fremont & 4-Queens? Smaller room and smaller bathroom...
The suites at Golden Gate are very comparable to a strip room, as are the Nugget rooms (as you know).

Seems like forever from now, but the flights are booked, so it counts!

4 Queens is functional. Fine by me as I just need a place to crash for a few hours but I try to avoid them when my wife is with me.

I like the D a lot better than the Plaza. The Plaza room has more floor space than average but I didn't care for it. Might just be personal preference and I might have been jaded by negative interactions with a couple of employees.

I would choose Main Street Station over Fremont but you are looking at a bit of a walk through the Cal and Binion's to get to the heart of the action.

Compare downtown hotes to strip hotels

I have found the downtown hotes to be far less expensive that the strip hotes. They may have a few teeth missing and may not be as pretty or entertaining... but if you appreciate value! :drooling:

    You can thank me later?

The standard rooms at GG are kind of small. And, I had an issue with the bathroom. They put the toilet right behind the door. So, it'll never open all the way, or even close. Had to almost go in sideways. Haven't stayed there since.

And, it looks like they've updated the rooms at 4Queens since I stayed.

Here's a couple of pics of The D's room. Didn't get the bathroom. This is of the 2 Queen room.
