Howdy, all! It's been awhile since I've posted, didn't realize it had been so long! Anyhoo, yesterday in the mail, I got an offer from the Venetian/Palazzo. It said they "missed" me and had an "incredible" offer for me. The offer was for 3 free nights and $60 free or match play. It's a pretty good offer. HOWEVER, I didn't appreciate the way they kicked me to the curb a couple of years ago when Sheldon Adelson said he didn't want play from people like me and would only go after whales.

As you may recall, casino revenue went down 47% after they made that move and they have apparently been trying to make amends. I remember when that comp policy went into effect and hearing stories about folks' having comped rooms yanked from under them days before their trip. One of my friends refuses to take them up on any comps and I have to say, I feel the same way.

The same week Adelson announced their whales-only comp policy, Wynncore sent me an email offering me 2 nights @ $129/night with the 3rd night free + $200 free play. Coincidence? Who knows, but guess who got my business on my next trip? First half of the trip at the El Cortez, the second half in a king suite at the Encore. I thoroughly enjoyed a winning stay at both hotels!

I was in the same boat as you. I stopped gambling there for over 2 years after that incident but last month, I sat down at a blackjack table and played for a little over 2 hours with an average bet of $150 (I asked the pit boss before leaving). Since then, I've already taken them up on two offers, both were 3 nights comped at Palazzo (Fri-Mon). First time had $200 free play (the same month I played) and the second time had concert tickets (this month). I've received 4-5 offers for another concert and slot tournaments, all with room comps. They'll probably kick me to the curb again but I'm enjoying those comps as much as I can before that. I like how they were so quick to send the offers after that one gambling session.

I have not played there since all the changes a couple of years ago with Adelson. Is he still there? I know they were going after the convention money. Is that the same philosophy? Did the properties lose a lot of money after this change? Never got any updates on how all the changes worked out for them. If casino revenue went down by 47%, that is a huge hit.

    i got a similar mailer - 3 comp nights + $75 free play

the only thing i've done recently was 15 minutes of $200/bet, and yet they think 3 comp nights is worth it

too bad their stupid inventory is preventing me from booking chinese new year

They have been pretty darn “generous” of late, that’s for sure. My dad gets some phenomenal offers with huge amounts of promo chips, show tickets, f/b credit and the like. I’d say that his V/P offers are probably more than twice as valuable as what I get from Mlife or Wynn. And I probably play MORE than he does. (Though, I know he does hit the slots from time to time…perhaps more so than I realize.)

I actually just took them up on an offer for three free nights in March. And I’ve maybe played two hours of $100/hand BJ and an hour or two of quarter VP my last four or five trips there combined. I’m actually going to give the room to my sister. I’ll be interested to see if my offers fall off the map after I give them very little action on a “comp’d room” trip.

    Caveat Emptor, of course…

Im going this weekend to Palazzo for the superbowl

    Suite for 3 nights

    2 Super party tickets

    $500 comp chips + $500 food credit

BTW - The Bellagio - all they could do was a regular room and no superbowl party tickets

I think many here have advocated sticking it to V/by taking advantage of the great offers but taking your play elsewhere that trip.

The offers I've been getting from them lately have been crap. A few slot tourneys w/ comp'd room + $60 FP. But the vast majority of the "offers" have been slightly discounted rooms and similar amounts of FP.

I used to get multiple offers per week that generally had $200+ FP, some F&B + the room. I MIGHT go back to the property because I like some of the restaurants, but they wouldn't get much of my gambling money.

But as far as making that my home base...until the offers improve, Tyler Bain can suck it. :grrr:

Haven't been back since early 2010, also just recd that offer in mail. I can't ever see going back there, it feels to me like all the action is further south now and "mid-strip" to me has become Cosmo-Aria-P.Ho area.

If I had no other offers I might hit them up but wouldn't give much play.

Although I was never really on their radar, the reports of how they treated loyal players a couple years ago really turned me off the place. Add to that Adelson's behavior in the run up to last year's election, and they could not offer me enough to ever stay there. I get offers from them every couple of weeks (reduced rates, not comps) and I delete them unread.

You could always freeroll the comp, and leave a note on in your room saying "Dear Club Grazie: I didn't miss you" ...

I received the same offer, $100 freeplay, 3 nights.

Sorry Sheldon, I gave you some good play back in the day, and didn't receive any comps, after V/P giving me 4 nights at one time.

I'll play somewhere that appreciates my play. Oh, buy the way, my money lasts a little longer at the place I gamble at now.

I'd give them my business because they're non-union, but the offers are meager, Grazie sucks for table games, and the blackjack is not very good.

I receieved three nights comped and I am taking advantage of their offer. I was surprised to receive a three night comp offer considering I only played blackjack and craps for about five hours with an average bet that was probably close to about $50 in November of last year. We did have a group of about seven of us and we were tipping well, so that may have helped the rating.

I respect other VMBers distaste for V/P based on how they were treated a couple of years ago, but I did not have any prior relationship with the casino and will see how I am treated at the end of February.
