Hey all you degenerates. I know there's a few people on here that collect chips from their trips out to Vegas, and elsewhere. I was wondering how all of y'all are displaying them. I've seen a few holders on eBay that don't look too bad, but I'm not sure if I should get more than 1. I was thinking of maybe getting 3 of the 20 chip holders. That way I can have 1 for the strip, 1 for downtown, and 1 for everywhere else. And, I can always expand it later if needed.

I'd love to see some pics of y'alls collections to get an idea or 2.

Right now ours are in the game room on narrow shelves (plate racks) on the wall. I've seen some nice chip holders -maps and other pictures with hole cutouts - but we've been moving away from the Vegas theme in that room over the past couple years so we haven't felt compelled to make anything fancy. I'll see if I can get a photo later....

FullBoat, may want to ask the same question on the www chipboard .com it's a messageboard of collectors and mostly affiliated with the CC+GTCC (CasinoChip and Gambling Token Collectors Club)..Many will post thier showcases from time to time to give you some ideas..A lot of others just keep theirs in albums..
Club also hold a convention every June in Las Vegas and the SouthPoint has it again this year. Good Luck..
One thing to mention though- avoid glueing the chips in so as to not interfere with the chips possible value by damaging it..Years down the road you never know what that $1 chip may be worth to someone unscathed.

I have 2 of the 64 count chip cases hanging on the wall. They are both full so I will probably buy another one soon. Most of them are from casinos I have visited. Some are from chips that friends and relatives have picked up for me.

When I first started collecting, I looked at "store bought" chip display cases and actually bought a couple from Gamblers Book Store. Those are my first two displays. Since then, I just buy a standard picture frame and paint the back of it (the cardboard part) jet black. I then attach the chips themselves to the cardboard using a tiny ball of "poster putty" on the back of the chip. Poster putty looks sort of like Play-do but will not permanetly adhere to anything. It has never damaged any of my chips. I have some PP that I have used in my office at school over and over again to stick things on my walls.

If anyone is looking to trade chips or what something to trade let me know.

I collect in 20's so I try to get everything in twenties. If someone has something they want or have something to trade let me know.

I only collect Las Vegas $1 chips but I have a bunch of extra and extra $5 chips as well

I have something very similar to this for the ones out on display. It was a gift, so it may very well be that exact product. One row is international, one strip, one downtown and the last is non-Vegas.

It's probably time to upgrade to something bigger.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I don't think I'm going to start going for the really old stuff. More just the places I've gone to. Need to go to Riviera next trip so I can get 1 from them before they close.

I think at least for my first one, I'm going to get this and buy a frame separately so I can get glass, and not plexy. I might try that putty trick for my next one. Should have walked down to the guys last time I was there, they're about a mile from Freemont from the looks of it.

Or, I might just wait, and go when I'm there in a couple of weeks... save me that crazy shipping cost. But, might end up costing me more since I'm sure I'll want more stuff while I'm there. :evillaugh

I too collect dollar chips. How often do the casinos change the design. I haven't bought any new ones in Vegas in a couple years and wonder if there are any new ones. I am heading out to Vegas this weekend so I may look around for some new ones.

Good thread. I started collecting a chip from each casino I was at. When some of them started closing down I thought it would be cool to collect chips from casinos that no longer exist so that's what I do. After a hiatus of almost 10 years I'm resuming. But I don't really have a way to display them either so I appreciate some of the info. I have my chips in holders like this:

One other note, when casinos started producing commemorative chips I thought it was cool. Until they started producing dozens and hundreds of them. Kind of like sports cards I guess. There are so many you can't collect them all.
