  1. Thought I would join after lurking for awhile. 25 years in the pits of Reno and Vegas. Currently swing shift 'pit boss' on the strip. Held everything from front desk to dealer to cage worker to my current gig as a 'pit boss'.

I must say, some of your guessing into the working of a casino is pretty close and yet others are as far away as possible. Fun to read.

My name is Bill, friends call me Wild Bill.

Welcome. That is so awesome to have a pit boss on here - this should be fun.

I am sure you have tons of insight into a lot of things everyone likes to discuss around here.

I look forward to reading your posts. :peace:

Oh great. As if we don't have enough problems dealing with pit critters in the casinos!

Just kidding! Welcome to the board!

    Welcome to VMB Bill.

Any advice for a low stakes Craps player hoping to accrue comps? Mostly $10 pass bets, playing place bets maybe 1/2 the time. I've been to Vegas semi-frequently and never seem to earn any kind of comps.

Hi Bill! Hope you enjoy your time on the board.

I'm wondering how pit bosses (in general) want to be treated by players. Generous tips to the dealers, of course. But I like to chat about life with pretty much anyone who wants to talk. Dealers are often accommodating, but the pit bosses seem to be more distant - perhaps because they have a job to do at a bunch of tables and it doesn't involve lots of time chatting, certainly not with one player?

I noticed one boss watching Shabazz Muhammad with interest on the pit TV, and was hoping to get his thoughts. Too busy (or maybe just didn't hear) to respond to my question, though, or even get his attention.

Just wondering what the protocol is - anything a table player should be doing to show their appreciation of their work, or just make the job a little easier or more enjoyable. Or things to avoid. Thanks!

Kudos to a pit boss over at the Stratosphere who kept an entertaining running conversation with multiple tables throughout his shift. Made up for the less-than-impressive dealers.
