I'm staying downtown in a few weeks. Does anywhere cash checks for free? I want to be able to carry a few blank checks and use them as needed. I have a global payments card connected to my checking account that allows you to cash virtual checks but there is usually a fee. Harrahs Cherokee waves that fee for me.

I've never done this, but I'm pretty sure the only hotel that MAY cash a check for you is the one you are staying at.

If you can get no fee check cashing at Harrahs, try CET. I cash virtual checks at CP cage with no fee.

If you are staying downtown I know the El Cortez gives you 5% freeplay from an atm withdrawal over 200 dollars. The atm fee was like five bucks. I took out a grand got 50 bucks in freeplay. Minus the atm fee I was 45 bucks ahead.

Once you cash a check at a Vegas cage, it goes thru central credit. Then you'll be good at all casinos, with that account on future trips. I cashed one at Silverton's cage and they told me only a small amount first time. But not what the limit was, it was my last day and all I wanted was three hundred. She said it would take a week or so but then any cage in town would cash them, there wasn't a charge.
