I am booked to arrive at Caesars on Sunday 11/18 for three nights and just got an email to upgrade my stay. I am currently booked in the Roman tower.

    The upgrade options are
    Forum tower $20 per night
    Palace Tower $50 per night
    Augustus $70 per night
    Octavius $80 per night

I am not all that thrilled about staying in the Roman tower and I know that it is really slow on these nights.

I was wondering what the chances of an upgrade at checkin using the $20 trick..Also what should I ask for with the upgrade?

I have never stayed at Caesars before.

    Thanks in advance!

What i would do is pay the 20$ a night to upgrade to forum and at check in tip her 20$ for a palace tower

That way if you get denied you still wont be stuck in the basic room

If they are sending you an email, there is a good chance of an upgrade. If you a Diamond, there is an even better chance of an upgrade. Keep an eye on your ressie online. The upgrade may happen before you even leave. I would shoot for Palace or Augustus but would be happy with Forum.

We got an unexpected "upgrade" (I assume) from a plain old ROTH to the Augustus Tower over the holidays last year.

We had back-to-back 3 day freebees, one in each of our names, and we were chatting with the desk agent about how we could combine them and not have to check out/in from one to the other. She called over a supervisor and they kind of poked around on the computer for what seemed to be 5 minutes or so, and gave us (**SHOCK**) an Augustus room facing the Bellagio fountains!

No $20 trick or anything like that, and didn't even ask for an upgrade.

It was an extremely nice room. Spacious, big shower and Jacuzzi tub and great vanity area. Great view!

LOL, we played mostly with another couple over at Sam's Town that trip, so obviously we did not get the same offers this year. :(

Get that $20 tip ready, make sure they see it when you give them your ID and credit card, then just ask if they have any complimentary upgrades available while they're processing the info. The free upgrade is pretty much hit or miss in my experience depending on the person you are talking to and availability, but it never hurts to ask. Worst case I've always been offered a paid upgrade for $XX per night if a complimentary upgrade was not available for whatever reason.

    Sogi..

My suggestion would be to play dumb and check-in at the dedicated Augustus/Octavius check-in desk. Being a relatively slow time of the week, I'm thinking you've got a pretty good shot at an Augustus/Octavius room, even without the $20 tip. Certainly worth a shot......

I went in October with a reserved Forum room and with the $20 trick got upgraded to a huge corner room in Augustus on top floor. It was a Monday night so maybe that had something to do with it.

We went oct 10 for 2 nights... was booked at forum tower.. upgraded to a mini-suite at palace tower (or whichever is the one right above the pool). I asked for a view of bellagio fountains in Augustus but she said they were totally booked and offered me that upgrade instead. I didnt even have the $20 tip out but I did leave it for her at the end because she was very nice. The room was nice, it was a smoking room because thats the best they could do but I did not smell anything. It had a Jacuzzi, double showers with his and her bathrooms. Great room and wife loved the Jacuzzi... we may have killed that bed those 2 days.. LOL.

Stupid question, but exactly where is it? Is this separate from the Diamond check-in? Is it really intended for plebeians like us who are gold but have reservations (or want to try for) for the Augustus/Octavius towers?

We did find the special Augustus/Octavius valet park and used it!

    dmr.....

No stupid questions. If there were, I'd be one of the worst offenders! The Augustus/Octavius check-in desk is separate from the Diamond check-in room. When entering the hotel off of Flamingo through the limo entrance, the check-in desk will be directly on your left. If you're coming from the casino, go through the main lobby, past the "Central" restaurant and you'll see it on your left before you get to the Augustus elevators. It's essentially just a smaller version of the main check-in desk, and is usually much less crowded. And you don't have to be a certain Total Rewards "tier" to use it.
