So for the last few years, it was always my understanding that say you earn platinum in 2014, you will have platinum until March 31st, 2015, giving you 3 months to re-earn Platinum status.

So in 2014, I hit platinum and finished the year with 13,XXX points. My card said I was platinum until March 2015, which is what I expected. I went to Vegas two weeks ago for four nights, earned 4,700 tier credits, but mid-way through my trip, I lost my card and when I got another one, I was now platinum until March 2016. So clearly I'm missing something. I asked the girl at the desk and she gave me an answer but it didn't really make sense. Hopefully someone here can help me understand. This year, with two trips to go and the 50% bonus still to kick in on the 4,700, I am definitely hitting diamond. As far as I understand, I'll keep that Diamond status until March 31, 2016, but still not quite sure.

    Any help is appreciated!

    No.

When you earn a tier this year you keep it all the way through the following year.

2017 is correct if you earn a tier this year.

Is this something they recently changed? Because my platinum card definitely said Expiry 03/2015 when I first got it last July. I know MLIFE you keep the whole following year until October

Edit: You're definitely right, I'm just curious if that is something that recently changed:

If you made a new tier in July of 2014, your new card would have an expiry date of 03/15. I'm actually surprised that they issued you a new card in March 2015 with an expiry of March 2016. I thought that they didn't issue the new cards until after April 1.

If you make Diamond before the end of the year, you'll get a Diamond card with a March 2016 expiry. You earned Diamond in 2015, so that gives you status until March 31, 2017. Next year, you'll get a new Diamond card with a March 2017 expiry.

I was in Vegas at the end of February. The card was issued with an expiry of March 2015. Since your new card already has the new date, I'm not sure what the cutoff date is to start issuing cards with they next expiry.

I got a March 2016 diamond card when I was at Planet Hollywood at the end of January for Superbowl so maybe some inconsistencies between the hotels.

I'm not sure if this is relative to your situation but a similar thing happened to my account. In 2013, I applied for the TR visa and consequently attained platinum status (via the Visa card). Throughout 2014 I periodically went to Vegas accumulating tier credit points while I was Platinum still earned by the Visa card. My last Vegas trip in 2014 was in July where I did some significant (by my standards) gambling. During this trip my earned tier credits exceeded 5K so I was notified my tier status was platinum.

In January 2015 I decided to plan another Vegas trip so I got on the TR website to see what offers I may have. When I went to the calendar I seen many comped dates so I booked two vacations, one in June and another in August of this year. When I was booking the August trip I noticed my expiration date for my platinum tier status was changed from March 2015 to March 2016! This made me happy but I hadn't done any gambling since July 2014 which made me wonder if "they" made a mistake extending my status thru 2016. Possibly similar to the OP's situation?

Even though you could be xxx level for another year, they still issue cards that expire in March. You just get a new one with the new date.

Anyone who earns a new level keeps that level the rest of the year, the next whole year, then the following year in March. Say you get Platinum July 2014. You will be Platinum until July 2016. Cards expire in March (who knows why?).
    Am I correct on this?

Yes mini you are correct. It may have something to do with March 31 being the end of their fiscal year for financial statements. I'm not sure if that is the case but it could be.

Actually I just looked it up and their fiscal year end is December so not sure why the cards expire in March. Anyways, even with the cards expiring in March, the tier status doesn't necessarily. As noted above, if you make Platinum or Diamond this year, you will keep that status until March 31, 2017.

I asked someone at a TR desk in January after my points reset to 0, why do they restet Jan 1, but status change in March. They said it was as a courtesy to players to keep their status for a few extra months. My thinking is its to get people to come out and bet big to keep their status. Makes sense that TR is now doing this big tier credit bonus to try to get people to keep their level by the cutoff date.

I sent CET an email last fall about this. There is the exact reply I received:

Each year, you are earning your status for the following year, so what you earn until December 31 of this year, is for your status for next year. If you reach the next level, we will raise your status for the rest of this year, and in March your status will be renewed for next year.

Long story short, if you earn your status in November or December 2014, you will have that status until March 31, 2016. When you get your upgraded card, it will probably have an expiration date of March 2015. We do a mass upgrade/downgrade after the first of the year, which takes a while, which is why the cards actually expire on March 31 each year. About February we are able to print cards with the new expiration date.

Thanks everyone for clearing this up. Makes me regret not going harder for diamond last year, since I missed it by only 1,500 Tier Credits. Already over 7,000 this year with two more trips to go, so I should have no problem getting it this year. Nice to know I'll have it until March 2017 and that I don't have to rush to Vegas in March 2016 to take full advantage of it.

Hey I am about to do a post laying out all the changes for TR in 2016, some good changes actually, so I'll open up the thread for TR questions.

I almost to scream. This was talked about in depth last week.

    You earn your status for
1 - The rest of the current year (through Dec). No matter if you earn it in Jan or Dec.
2 - You get that status for the FULL following year.
3 - They also do it for the first three months of the next year

Your card will not show the final date. You have to get another one next March.
