I stayed at Harrahs Tahoe for 2 nights last month and received my diamond statement last night. I was charged resort fees for both nights (from my rewards credits). I have never had this happen before. I thought if you were diamond resort fees are waived. Anyone know?

I thought the waiver was for all of Nevada but not certain. Did you use Wi-Fi or the other services, though? The fee kicks in if you did.

No we did not use anything. Not even the coffee! The odd thing is, we stayed a couple days in May, June, July, August, and September. September was the only time we were charged a resort fee. In July we had the room for several nights in conjunction with a family vacation and also had a cabin, so one night my brother used the room and did use his lap top. We were billed the 10.00 lap top fee but not the resort fee.

I would call. As a diamond player you should only be charged for what you used, if anything (internet, mini bar, etc.). Resort fees should not be charged to you at all. I'm sure they will be happy to reverse once you call and explain. I would certainly want those RCs back!

I sent them an email. got a response which I am not at all happy with, now I am trying the phone call. I will copy and paste their response. check it out!

    Dear Ms. Norman,

Thank you for writing Harrah's Lake Tahoe.

As a Diamond member you do have the choice to decline the resort fees; upon check in please let the VIP agent know that you would like to opt out of the resort fees. For your last visit, they did use reward points towards the resort fees; if you would like this reversed, please contact your host to see if they will comp off the resort fees for you. If there is anything else we can do to further assist you, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

    Carole,
I am very interested to hear what they have to say. I will be going to Tahoe on 10/11 and I wonder if they will inform me of the resort fee "opt out" option when I check in (I am Diamond also). If they are charging everyone the resort fee and we have to ask for the opt out (without even knowing there is a resort fee charged), that seems sneaky at best and possibly illegal (unless it was stated on reservation somewhere). I just checked my emailed reservation confirmation and there is no mention of resort fees anywhere (room comped- total charges zero).

I just spoke to "Sandy" at Harrahs billing at Tahoe. She told me diamond members are not supposed to be charged resort fees and she would be sending a letter to Total Rewards to have my points returned. She did not agree with the answer that I was given in the email. by this person.

I am going to Vegas in two weeks, and I always try to hoard my points to spend when I am there.
