I'm one of the low rollers and if I could get rooms for $17 I'd be happy. My room rates are $3 cheaper with my TR number...so no I don;t think it hurts their bottom line - because your numbers are off.

Just a little FYI.........I emailed CET the question below and within 20 minutes I got the following reply.........

    *********************************************************
Will these MANDATORY RESORT FEES also be MANDATORY if my rooms are comped?
    ----------------------------------------------------
It is my pleasure to assist you with your resort fee inquiry. Resort fees will apply to complimentary reservations. I hope this information was helpful to your planning. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Have a wonderful day!

A little more FYI........I've emailed CET with this next question TWICE since finding out about Resort Fees.....once was within minutes of the question I sent above:

    ---------------------------------------------------

Will you please explain why it is mandatory to pay a "Resort Fee" when not using any of the services they offer?

If this is for the "convenience of your customers" as stated, wouldn't it be for the "convenience of your OTHER customers," that will not use these services, to NOT HAVE TO PAY for services that they will not use?

There seems to be no LOGIC in a "forced payment" upon customers that do not want this service. Why not make it optional to those who want it and not force it on everyone? Is there something that I am not understanding?

    ************************************

They, so far, have refused to respond to this question.

Now that Caesars Entertainment has buckled under pressure and is charging resort fees at all their Las Vegas properties (and in its other Nevada locations), we've got some major updating to do to our 2013 Resort Fee Guide.

But, to make things easier for you, we've rounded up all the new resort fees right here. These will go into effect on March 1. And, to clarify, that is for bookings made on March 1st and after. So, if you're looking to go to Vegas and stay at one of the hotels below, book your stay now to avoid, on average, an extra $18 a night!

    · BALLY'S: $15. Includes: Internet for one device, fitness center access for two people per day and all local calls. Best amenity: Internet.

    · CAESARS PALACE: $25. Includes: Internet for one device, fitness center access for two people per day and all local calls. This includes the NOBU Hotel as well. Best amenity: Internet.

    · FLAMINGO: $18. Includes: Internet for one device, fitness center access for two people per day and all local calls. Best amenity: Internet.

    · HARRAH'S: $18. Includes: Internet for one device, fitness center access for two people per day and all local calls. Best amenity: Internet.

    · PARIS LAS VEGAS: $20. Includes: Internet for one device, fitness center access for two people per day and all local calls. Best amenity: Internet.

    · Planet Hollywood: $20. Includes: Internet for one device, fitness center access for two people per day and all local calls. Best amenity: Internet.

    · THE QUAD: $10. Includes: Internet for one device, fitness center access for two people per day and all local calls. Best amenity: Internet.

    · RIO LAS VEGAS: $18. Includes: Internet for one device, fitness center access for two people per day and all local calls. Best amenity: Internet.

And, in case you missed it, here's Caesars' official statement on the turn-around

Asking a host right now about the fees may not be the ideal time as they, like a lot of the other employees, are not getting current information.

Some people received the training yesterday, but not sure if a lot of hosts have been apprised of the new policy.

I don't think the fees are a good idea, but I suggest a wait and see approach first to see the official implementation.

Heck, even many of the Caesars employees are just as confused.

If you are worried just book a room by tomorrow, as you can always cancel later, but so far the information about platinum, diamond and seven stars not having to pay, unless they choose to take advantage of the "convenience" package, then they can opt in and pay the resort fee to use those amenities will most likely be the case.

I say let's inconvenience CET by staying in the room and watching porno movies on the free Internet. And inconvenience CET by using the free phone to order pizza while watching the movies. Then we can inconvenience CET by using the free Fitness Center to workout our bodies after eating all the pizza. I demand it.

I don't understand why a Gold paying a resort fee would make you feel better treated as a Diamond. When I was a Diamond, I could give a rats ass about who got comped what. I understood it was about ADT so a Gold getting good comps said a lot about their play level. What made me feel special as a Diamond were the lounges, the now seemingly nonexistent turndown service, the Diamond rooms, the special events, etc. I would worry about those things working correctly over making sure someone whose play warrants a comp doesn't get it.

    .

My CET free rooms for poker play have dried up over this past year. Instead I get reduced rates, very low at the Quad, $17 to $23. And I spend perhaps ten hours a day at the poker table when I am in Vegas. I used to be comped a couple nights. Now that is the best I get and I expect that once the construction is over, the Quad will take its place with the rest of the upscale places on the strip and price me into off strip or downtown places.

Well, I probably never helped the CET bottom line so I deserved to be punished. I always figured that I was competing to come out ahead on the trips, not to subsidize the casinos, but I am very pleased for those who do seem to like to subsidize. Someone has to pay the light bill. When I go for $20 or below for trips of 25 days, I figure I've already won a few good poker pots. At the poker tables too I like to be a "freeloader" and load up on other people's money without spending any of my own. I don't feel guilty about it. It is just part of the game. In fact, when a few people come with a few hundred to load up the pots, I am very happy they are there.

I guess CET will lose me from the poker tables. The room deals were the deal breaker for me. I'll figure other angles and go other places rather than live at the Flamingo while I'm there. I still like to win. I don't really care much about the status of various metals. If I could go to Vegas for free, I'd be happy to be wood level, or paper. However, if the resort fee allows them to loosten up the hotel rates and the Quad comes in at $10 a night, then I'll bite. I pay the $9 resort fee at the Gold Spike if the rates are low enough.

Eastside Cannery looks like an even better deal. There is some full pay VP that earns points outside of the classic and I'll be seeding those this next trip. I already get some limited deals from Sam's Town, the one place in Vegas with full pay Deuce. Boyd tends to send me some fine offers even on weekends and the Four Queens adds free play to the spice of the full pay Double Bonus 10/7 with cashback. Super 8 will probably be a competitive good deal now too as a near strip property. They are always close, the resort fee will make them the better bet. Their the amenities are free wifi, free airport transportation, free heated pool 24/7, free coffee in the room and fancy coffee in the lobby as well as Turner Classic Movies on the television and Ellis Island inexpensive food right next door for inexpensive breakfasts.

Thanks to all the posters for ferreting out all this information on CET resort fees. It will shake up the hotel scene for a while.

I would love to leave one of these threads open for discussion, but we can't seem to remain civil and level-headed. This is a legitimate topic, but I can't keep a thread open if people are just going to insult each other for disagreeing or create hysteria by being hyperbolic or posting incomplete/inaccurate information.
