I have been traveling fairly consistently to Vegas now for about 5 years, mostly staying at Bally's or Planet Hollywood (depending on which one will comp me). When my wife travels with me I use her as my companion and end up at PH. I have never had them ask for her, her card, or id when we check in. Half the time she is in the casino by the time I get to the front of the line anyway. My question is this:

If she isn't going with me this time and I want to stay at PH comped using her as a companion rather than Bally's by myself what will happen if they do ask for her and her card at check in?

What are everyone's experiences checking into a CET property using a companion's card number?

I've stayed at a few CET properties (Paris, Ballys, Planet Hollywood, Caesars Windsor) and they have always asked for the second TR card + ID. There was one time my wife was in the casino playing early, when I checked in, and they had to adjust my rate to what the TR discount would have been for just my card, to check me in, until I could get her and her card/ID to the front desk. They later adjusted the rate based on two players, after she and I both went to the front desk.

The front desk has checked both of our IDs at Planet Hollywood, Caesars and Paris, all in the last 1.5 years. Trips prior, I don't recall them asking so, it seems that they've become a little bit more stringent.

My wife had to be present at check in for our last three visits, from late 2011 thru 2012. Had to call her over (off to the side with the luggage) to complete check in the first time it happened.

I have always been asked for my companion to show their ID and TR card. A few years ago, they updated the reservation page so that you have to check a box that says you understand that you will be charged the full room rate if the companion fails to check in with you or doesn't present their TR card. I wouldn't risk it

Last few times I have booked and went they have asked. I actually had a friend that I had booked with that was coming in on a later flight and since he was not there they adjusted the rate to my rate by myself. Had to take him back down when he arrived and they switched it back.

I assume you have tried checking rates WITHOUT the companion?

This is a good reason to put all play on one card.

We did that for a year, what we found was that we were able to get places like PH and Paris comped Sun-Thurs, but we weren't able to get a Bally's / Flamingo / Rio compled on the weekends, now without a companion card. Only places I was getting was Harrahs and IP, not gonna happen.

    Off topic

off topic i know but-i just booked 11 nights in flamingo fab deluxe-sept 22to oct 3-with Hotels.com for an average of $53 per night including continental breakfast(inc one weekend). the cheapest average rate signed into total rewards with NO breakfast was$78.(these rates included all taxes). so much for cets rewards program! (hotels.com rate included 10% discount using code HEJAN10-(valid for jan only).
i stayed in quad last year booking with total rewards and they were much cheaper than the rest.
does anyone know what the continental breakfast in the flamingo consists of ?. ive had continental breakfast all over the world and it differs everywhere.
and where do they serve it.? the countdown is on.!:peace::wink2::nworthy::beer:

We have stayed at Bally's, PHo, and The Flamingo. My wife had to show her TR card and her ID each time to get the companion rate.

My girlfriend didn't have to show her card or ID at Caesars AC a couple weeks ago.

It was slow though, I think they would have given me a free room that night by myself.

Yep, if you used the companion card to get a better rate on the reservation the other person needs to be present with card & id

The breakfast is a $9 credit for the coffee shop, which will just about get you a coffee and a danish.

Was at PH 2x last couple years booked the room with the companion deal (my best friend) was all worried he had to be there at check in. Never asked for an ID or TR card just took my word for it. Still would hate to chance it

I have used the companion option to get a better rate a few times and each time we both had to be present to get the quoted rate at check-in.

I have a semi related question.

I will be using the companion process to get a better rate in March. I will be the primary but plan on leaving a night before my companion. Will he be able to check out and use his points to pay for the entire room charge without me being present?

Seems likely but want to confirm. (We tried to just make him the primary and me the guest but the system would not allow it. It said to book using me as the primary)

Yeah, he could apply his points to pay the all charges, even if the room is under your name. He needs to go to front desk and show id and tr card and inform them that he wants to apply his TR credits to charges to that particular room.

Wife and I checked in to Ballys last week on Jan 4 with two nights comped with companion TR- the girl at check in asked for her ID as she was finishing doing whatever she was doing with mine.
